for $50 bucksa, id upgrade it! on a side note on the intercooler, be wearey of the size that you use... an intercooler helps out big time to cool the charged air beiong pumped into your motor, BUT, with the addition of an intercooler and associated piping to connect it, that is more air to compress till boost is met. you may notice a couple hundred rpm's diff till the turbo breaks loose. so just remember that a huge intercooler could actually hurt ya. some expensive intercoolers have horsepower ratings, find one thats good for 3-400 horse and try to stick within that same size. like i stated before, up under the nose in front of the radiator has GOBS of room for a decently sized intercooler.

Scaler's Daytona has a whole different induction system than the later cars, Chrysler used the Draw Through system from '84-87 on the Turbo 1's (my '85 Lebaron had the same setup as this Daytona, and yes I'm sure, I owned that car 8 years and it was rarely worked on by anybody be Dad and myself.) Shelby started using the Blow Through on the '86 GLHS 4dr (Omni) and installed it on the "Turbo 2" (basicly a T1 with a blow through system installed) GLHS 2dr (Charger), and Shelby Lancer (Dodge version of my Lebaron). Chrysler also installed their T2 (using better rod ends and crank as well as a stonger block IIRC) on Daytona's in '87. In '88 the T1's recieved the blow through design which carried through the rest of the 2.2/2.5 SOHC Turbo lineup until Chrysler pulled the plug in the early 90's. Only ones not to get that later setup were the Lotus and Maserati headed 2.2's, in Mexico you could even get a 2.2 and/or2.5 with the turbo manifold on a naturally asperated motor, which I think ran 15-20 hp more and got better mileage to boot! I don;t know the address off hand, but try to find Russ Kinze's mini Mopar site, that should be much more descriptive than I have been in my last couple posts on how this system works. |

Holly crap man! your like a plethera of turbo dodge info! Your ight about his turbo setup... i just went back through his initial post, i though it was an 88 (same body style as 2 of mine) and noticed the engine bay. yup... different turbo setup... although, in a previouspost he was lookin at T2 intake and such, with that change over then he could use the aftermarket BOV so for now, your right, im wrong. your fast and witty, im partially retarded. Your pretty, im not so attractive.

start raiden the junk yards.. find either a daytona or a lebaron t2 intercooled... take everything from the intake to teh exhaust manifoled turbo and all, computer, wiring harness... everything. the t2 intake upgrade with intercooler and t3/t4 turbo upgrade should help big time. now, ive never done this myself so i would look extesivley for information on the crossover

so TwistedXT, is this the grainger valve you were talking about, and if so, will it just fit right in? http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg...mId=1611714317 |

I used one of them on my daily driven daytona, very simple and reliable. Pretty much set it and forget it. Have you been checkin out thedodgegarage.com ? Ahh the Grainger valve! (McMaster-Carr sells them as part number: 48935K25) Think mini air pressure regulator- hook one end to the wastegate and the other to the intake and your done! Set and forget. Want multiple levels of boost? Get two and hook them up with a solenoid and change boost levels with the flip of a switch! |

Thank you mod for changing the topic of the thread. I no longer have to click this thread for the 8th time to figure out it was the same thread I clicked minutes ago. Turbo dodges are sleepers. Thats it nothing more. |

Naw, I'm not that full of info...but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night (sorry couldn't help it) Actually, I also went back and double checked to see if I'd seen the underhood pic right too and when you've spent 8 years owning, wrenching on, and driving that set up and later 4 of those 8 years with both setups, you notice and learn things and the education only gets worse once the internet gets involved (atleast it's usable for things other than porn). Funny thing is, I've noticed that commonality thing with the four Cherokee's we've had in this family as well as the Traxxas 2wd electrics I own too..........anybody notice a pattern here? IIRC '87 was the first year for the first revision in the G-body (as well as the death of the Chrysler Laser, anybody here remember that one?) Last edited by TwistedXT; 10-05-2007 at 03:03 PM.
