Nitro MT options(opinions wanted)
 

I am in the market for a nitro MT basher, I have it narrowed down to a couple but what your opinions on whats strongest. I am looking at the savage 4.6, or a revo 3.3. Thanks for the input guys"thumbsup"

What is your driving style..
Are you prone to braking parts and are abusive? Then the Savage
Desire performance and Speed? Revo

Desire performance, speed and maybe some track time? Look into a Truggy.

www.rcuniverse.com has a pretty good hpi and traxxas mt section.

all relativly strong.

tmaxx has to be the weakest of them all. savage or lst are the strongest.

but ive broke every mt ive had. savage, revo, lst, tmaxx. i have broke something on them all. so its really what you want, speed, durability. etc.

Im fairly abusive on them, which savage is best?

Well, obviously parts are gonna break, something that size the goes that fast.
If you don't break something, you're not doing it right...

That said, the T-Maxx has the biggest aftermarket as far as hopups and addons go, but it's an older design and it handles like a log wagon.

The Savage has a decent aftermarket selection. Fairly similar to the Tmaxx when it comes to handling and design, with the Savage possibly having a slight edge.
Slowest of the bunch out of the box, even though it comes with a big block.

The Revo is the fastest and most track-capable MT out there, period.
Smaller aftermarket than the other two but it's still growing, plus it's not needing certain hop ups out of the box like the others do IMO.
As far as reliability and toughness goes, in my own personal experience, they will hold up and take a beating as good or better than the other MT's.
Performance-wise, the 3.3 version with the extended chassis will hang with or flat out smoke most truggys on the track, with some setup and a tire change.

For bashing around, I don't think you'd make a bad decision going with any of the three.

In closing:
The Savage - generally the cheaper of the three, power and speed lagging behind the other two. Fairly tough reputation.

T-Maxx - Old-school (but proven)design and technology, more hop-ups and addons than you can shale a stick at.

Revo - 8 time Roar MT champ. Cutting edge suspension and technology, strongest performer in speed and handling out of the box. Somewhat limited when it comes to aftermarket parts and hop-ups. Bit more expensive than the others.

This is all based on my personal experience, and of course is just my opinion.

I think you just changed my mind to a revo 3.3. I can afford a couple strengthening upgrades and tires.

I just sold an Eight T and it was great. I have had a revo in the past and it was pretty rugged and stood up to some bashing. One of the main reasons I got the Losi and the Revo, Goto your LHS and see what part section is bigger. The Savage has a decent selection, but the Traxxis section is over half of the parts wall!! Just a thought.

IMO, dont get a traxxas. they break on everything. Savage is the toughest. Revo is for racing and cant do anything else good. I have a Savage x and it takes a real beating and keeps on going. There isnt any other truck that can handle what it can. Believe me when i say this. i have had both a tmaxx and a savage. the savage is way better. and there is just about as much aftermarket parts for the savage as there is for the revo and tmaxx. oh and it is a big block. savage is by far the strongest truck made bar none. coming from a guy who has had to fix everyone else's broken trucks at the LHS and who has owned all of them at one point or another.. I've done stupid things over and over with a savage that a t-maxx or revo couldn't ever think about.

I'll be honest though the savage does have it's draw backs too, its slower, heavier, and handles like a brick sliding on butter. but if you're going to jump it 60ft or more like I do you'll want the savage"thumbsup"

And go for the SS kit and build it you're self with the factory upgrades and install you're favorite servos and radio gear cause the stock stuff sucks on OEM radio gear and traxxas doesn't give you the choice"thumbsup"

Yeah this is an important thing to mention.
The T-Maxx and Revo are not very reliable with big block power in them. If you put some beast .21+ power in one of these, parts will start braking/failing.

The Savage on the other hand has allot of drive train components that are derived from 1/8 buggies.

How about the hellfire?

with massive amounts more torque. small blocks are for pu$$ies who cant man up and get a big block. believe me i have a tmaxx (small block) and a savage (big block). savage can go up hills that no small block ever could. the difference is night and day.

That is a Truggy. Not really ideal for big air or really rough terrain.
But it will be faster and out perfom the Savage and T-maxx on smoother terrain.
You can also stuff the biggest baddest .21+ engine in there without much reliability issues.
If you are thinking about a truggy look at the ones OFNA has to offer.
