Isn't that just another variant of the Defender?

I'm no expert in Landy's, but I believe it's a Series 2.

Nope, you have your years mixed up. The Series came before the Defender, so the Defender is just an updated version of the Series. That one is a Series 2, as the cutoff date was 1971 for the Series 3. They look about the same though

We have the correct answer! except series 3 (Well, I'm 99% sure anyway.. series 2 and 3 are hard to figure out the differences!)
Looks to be in really good nick to!
EDIT! woops.. I do appologise! On closer inspection the light surrondings look to be a series 2! My bad!

I saw some guy hauling ass down the road the other day in a 4-door truck style land rover... I didn't think they were ever available here?

The defenders aren't because they don't comply to your road safety rules or something and when the series were built the land rovers weren't available to america because theyrefused to ship them or something but now you can import them!

I see them on the road here every once and a while here. I would love to own one but I could spend $40k better on another auto or two.

You can get series 3 pretty cheap. Went trailing with one last month. Pretty cool.

Well I got my series 3 for less then 500quid wich is about $1000 and they go for about the same price! Ther're great fun! And they're amazing offroad and some say they're more capable than a defender and that's without lockers on the series and lockers on the defender! They are beautiful cars!

I'm sorry I was referring to a newer but still used Defender with the tdi option here in southern CA. I looked into buying one.

Landrovers are a status symbols here. Just like a BMW or Mercedes.

I'm sure the classics retain their value well too though.

Defender? a status symbol? Now that's funny! .. They are only used by farmers and people that do serious wheeling here!

You need to understand. Cali is not an example of America. Cali is it's own country, with the 5th largest economy in the world, they have many strange status symbols out there
