Default Carpet Crawling?

Has anyone ever tried making a carpeted course? I think it would have great traction and all, and it would be cool when the weather is too bad to go outside to have somewhere to go. Just an Idea. But maybe im wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

Too cold or bad weather to go outside? We run in rain, snow, sunshine and nasty conditions. Welcome to Oregon

Ive always lived in oregon, i mean when its just miserable to be out there, its nice to have somewhere to go. But what im saying is the traction of lowpile carpet is amazing, imagine what you could do.

We crawl year round. Although we only have one covered crawling location but during the winter its rather cold and windy

Maybe the new shop in Gresham will have a small section for crawlers.

in your personal opiniondo you think that a carpet obstacle course would push a crawler even more? In my mind the traction is there but well... i dunno

I think traction not being perfect is what makes it fun

what exactly are you trying to ask? yes some tires might hook up very well on carpet, why would you want to do it? I don't know

last time I was out, didn't see any carpet covered rocks.

I am sure making your tires out of velcro would push a crawler to its limits, but what limits are they? fake indoors crawling really means squat.

I understand your thought/idea. The only way to really do it is with lots of thought and plenty of room. Only allow foam tires.

Well not as much room as you might think, when you design it yourself your not working with 50 to 150 pound rocks. You could make like different levels, like a big city parking garage.

I think it's time to go outside...... It's not always sunny in Oregon and the last couple of days have been sweet, yes cold but still very nice.

dude if none of them work, start making them work! decide how you'll run them afterrrr they are able to run. this is my lame motivational speech as i sit at my desk "working on homework" with a very sizable pile of rc parts next to me. but anyways yes i think it would be a decent idea but i think it would be difficult to construct and rather expensive. if you have the time and money though, try it out. the multiple level thing is a decent idea too. just don't fall off the top by the way have you seen what others have done for indoor courses? such as actually moving rocks inside and doing kind of a paper mache type thing with plaster. I also had the idea to use that homemade play dough thats made out of salt and flour. i do like how the weather adds a new twist to the whole thing though. but it is sometimes not even enjoyable if its too cold or pouring. (why do i always write the longest replies?)

I wish my rocks out back weighed that little. I would have my courses redesigned in no time
