| OkeSjons Axial AX10 Scorpion Racer
Thought I would register myself here to introduce myself and my Axial going to be Racer ;) for the monstertruck competition here in Holland. The Axial is the replacement for my (sold) ThunderTech clodbuster, because I wanted try something different. The Axial has less weight to carry ;), Nice chassis with al the needed hop-ups and added a few :P. I also ordered at the TCS some parts. The battery will get a place on the side of the chassis with three cells on each side. I lowered the ride height with some hacked up clodbuster shockmounts the holes are a direct fit! add a alloy strip for the new body mount. Else the body would hit the tires. Some specs: - Nosram ESC - Team Orion 17t v2 motor - TXT-1 wheels - Imex baja tires - Thundertech wheel wideners - HPI diff wheels because with the locks it won't drive that good on tarmac :P Some Photos: And a photo of the Diff wheels and 24t pinion: I painted the alloy parts yesterday black, and did the skidplate mod so the links are now on the inside of the chassis. I lowered the shocks with 1 inch inside with some fuel tubing. Hope you guys like it, and i'll keep posted with updates Last edited by OkeSjon; 01-03-2008 at 05:54 AM. |

Nice, What are the part numbers for the differential gears? also how do they fit? Direct replacement? I wonder though, why not get a wheely king? I would have thought it would be better suited. Not that you didnt do this one up real nice like. Definately some action pics. If you can you should get maybe a 7t cobalt puller and mamba maxx.

Nahh, his 17t will probably be faster. It will just get really hot with those tires! Very interesting use of the kit, I wonder how it will hold up with the aftermarket parts.

Why not a wheely king??? The Axial -kit has al the hop-ups I wanted, a good stock tranny, axles and better stock parts! Nice aluminium chassis and good parts! For now I bought for about €30,- hop-ups, with the wheelyking I had to buy for lot more €€€ hop-ups to make it as good as the Axial for my needs. The pics will come asap ;) The WK also has more plastic parts so overall the Axial would lots cheaper. I'am running the stock spur gear and 24t Hpi pinion. @ John Holmes, I keep you posted how the axial holds up. I hope I'll do as good as a I think Last edited by OkeSjon; 01-03-2008 at 05:59 AM. | |

I used to race clod busters locally... My TLT even started out as a scale tuff truck for a racing class they had setup for the TLT's. |

how is the locked front and rear diffs going to work in racing? Seems to me it would push too bad in the corners.

Well that is some good info! But wouldn't the HPI carrier bolt onto the AX10 ring gear?

| The axial is as good as ready
So the Axial is as good as finished, only a few little things and fine tune the set-up What I did: - Removed the Axial battery / electronics plate -> replaced with glasfiberplate - Placed Corally battery holders (almost direct fit ;) ) for lower cog - Replaced the tri-link with tcs plates (really fast shipping!!! thnx) - Longer rear upperlinks - Reversed the rear lock-out to avoid damages ;) and placed o-rings on the ball-ends to remove play - Placed some little spacer for the lower links - chassis to avoid bending and better triangle ;) - And some more :P Photo's: the workplace :P The TCS servo plate: The new battery placement: Hope you guys like it. Yeah I just said wheely king because it was a stock monster. Yeah the axial is a little better out of the box but I just thought the wk mock tubes would be nice. Looks great, Is there a monster section on here? I like monsters, I have a jugg2, wk and a couple others, I dont know many who race near me anymore. CLODS SUCK cough

How do you like the Nosram ESC? I know that it's waterproof and there's no setup to do and no reverse delay. Does it have braking and how strong is the BEC?
