Is plastic better than rubber when it comes to tires?

I confess I actually bought one of those on a whim one day at Target. Its belt (read tough rubber band) drive and about 7-8 inches long. The body isn't really very proportional either.. Its basically a $10 chunk of unusable plastic... I will say this, the gearbox is LOUD WWWWHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRUUUURUUURRRRRUUUUUURRR |
