Default Red Rocks crawl Location READ!

Went out around Noon today to the crawl spot at RR Elemetary. Jgoodall and I headed up and crawled for about an hour after that hour a police officer got on his loud speaker, from the entrance 3 speed trap, and told us to get off the rocks and leave. After a heated talk he told us it was private property owned by Jefferson county and that means its private land and we are not aloud to go there EVER! Well I was a little upset, I proceeded to drive around and find the city planning office for Morrison, I eventually found it. I had them dig out the property lines for that area to see if what the officer said was true. Well to my joy it wasn't. I then went to the Police station and talked to an officer there who told me to come back later.
Fast forward: I come back at 4 when the Sergent is on duty. After a little talk he says I have seen you up there alot and it is Public property, so we can be there whenever we want.
Just so everyone knows. The school property extends 50-100 feet from the school, road and the parking lot, this does include all sides of the school. So as long as we stay off school property we can be there whenever you want.
HOWEVER! The officer can ask you to leave if the school feels it is being threatened. SO if you go up during the school day dont look threatening and just stay away from the school it self. The sergent told me he would notify all his officers.
If anyone has a problem up there from now on please notify me and I will talk to them about it. Please act appropriate and walk away if you are asked to do so. Just because you are in your right to be there doesnt mean you should. Please help me keep this location open for all of us and do your part.
Thanks guys
Ty
P.S. The East side is also available to crawl but the officer would like us to stay off it during the week, only because you have to cut across school property to get there.

Anytime I can do something Im here. Plus Red Rocks his my home and I don't know what I would do if I could not go there anymore.

Thanks for the info!! I have always wondered about being up there especially during school hours. I have seen quite a few cops scoping me out while crawling...

Thanks for "taking down the man" Ty. Great work.

Let's just all be careful up there and respect what little area we have.

I have always figured that I would stay away from that location when school is in session. It only seems like the right thing to do. All you have to do is have a perinoid parent feel like their kid is in danger and I can almost guarentee they will come up with some reason not to let you up there. So I always figured why push the limits if it might cause heart ache. If something should happen then we might all loose out, so my way of looking at it is I will stay away from that spot during school hours just to be safe.

Thanks Ty for doing the leg work so we have a solid answer about the who has rights to the land.

Thanks for your efforts, that makes everyone feel better for sure.

Ty, did the cop let you play the accordion on the loud speaker?

And this should be a sticky too.

X100 on what everyone else said. Thanks for making sure they were wrong!!! The man has better things to do than make sure good people with a hobby have no fun.

It's really my pleasure guys, Thanks for backing me up. Plus I really like stickin to the man.
I know what you are saying Tom, but for some of us during the week in the middle of the day is the only time some of us can make it up, but I know where you are coming from and dealing with kids myself all the time I could understand what the officer was saying.
Thanks to everyone for all you do our hobby would not be were it is without all of you.

Trust me Ty, I have Mondays and Tuesdays off so going up to practice would be great. But hearing some of the panic strickened stories from my wife (she is a school teacher) I figure that I will not chance it. I will end up going to Lutz or somewhere else to get some practice time in. If you want to go practice on a Monday or Tuesday give me a call.
