Default Fruita: Location Rabbit Valley June 20 8:00am Check-In

Everyone with a crawler is welcome to attend. Please brush up on the rules and prepare your crawler to qualify.

The location is Rabbit Valley just west of Fruita Co. I don't have the exact directions yet, please stay tuned to this thread or call up High Desert Raceplace on Saturday and ask for Steve C.

Check in is at 8 AM, do not be late because there is a $2 late fee.

The competition is really starting to heat up. I viewed the 1st place trophy a couple weeks ago and it is really awesome and big! This trophy is going to be something very cool to own. I heard from people who know things that top guys are getting so serious setting up their crawlers that some are setting them on boards and lifting one end measuring the angles before the crawler tips! So we have some serious people indeed.

Like last time, bring extra money because we will have a food wagon as well. Bring extra water for yourself because the weather is also heating up and bringing shade is a good idea too.

The club is really growing. The last competition we had 45 participants. Lets see if we can break 50.

If anyone has any other questions or comments please post them here.

-Matt

yeah we might come and camp somewhere and make a weekend out of it, still not sure though, it's kinda up in the air. Still, I've been to rabbit valley before and it's a pretty cool place

EDIT: I won't be coming to this, the five hour drive to and back is just a little too much for one comp :?

High Deserts web site says to be there at 7:00am and they'll start selling cards at 7:30. Don't know which is correct just wanted to let anyone who just read this thread know.

Thanks for the pictures. There should be a lot more coming. There were several people with cameras and video cameras.

Thanks again to Steve C. He has been really great settings things up for us and has really brought the competitions to a different level. Thanks to everyone who helped judge the competition, and all the score keepers.

Course #1 which some felt was easy was deceptively difficult for many crawlers. This course determined or not if your truck could side hill effectively, and as a result, many crawlers toppled off a rock face and had to re-crawl the entire course to get back.

From this point on, it seemed like the courses became more and more difficult.

Course #2 had a couple of what seemed like impossible gates but yet, many people made them. There was a large rock on gate 2-3 which hung up many people, myself included. Then there was a very steep grade rock which I cannot believe people actually were able to crawl up.

Course #3 started off quite difficult and seemed to continue that way to the very end. The first and second gate were extremely difficult to pass and seemed to take a very low speed driving and just hoping your tires gain the traction to pull you up. Then once you passed that, you had to sidehill up a very large face, and if the truck tumbled off, it was a good 10 ft drop. Fortunately Steve was there to catch every crawler and they all went through this course unscathed.

You see know is the time that you learn how to build your truck to make all of that easy! Sounds like it was awesome!
