Default Kansas Guy With a Question

A few buddies of mine and I are going to be headed your way (well Colorado Springs) for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Are any of you going? It would be cool to meet some where and get some crawling done before or after the race waiting on traffic! Let me know! There will be 2 of us there with crawlers and both of us are newbies and it would be cool to hang with some people that know what the hell they are doing!

Thanks,
Jeremy

I'll be there. I don't have a comp rig right now, but might have a scaler.

Where abouts do you watch the race from? We were at devil's playground last year and are thinking moving further down the mountain this year.

When I went, I would hitch a ride from the cars/trucks going up the Mtn in the morning before they closed the road. Most of them would stop at the Picnic grounds so we would just hike up a mile or so into the dirt sections.

Once the race starts you can walk down the Mtn and see a whole bunch of different corners and not just one. By the end of the race your close to the start and can get out before the rush takes over. There is one corner close to the bottom you can watch the crazy driver's fly off the road .

I haven't hard this confirmed or denied but rumor has it that it is paved all the way to the top this year. Yeah we will probably go sit in line at midnight before the gates open like we did last year but this year we have our crawlers to keep us entertained while we wait!
