I guess someone didnt know the rules, now that i think about the person that the rules effected would have ended up in finals if it were not for the 50 point dq.

Thats too bad.

Wish i could have come down for this, just couldn't risk it with work. I would be willing for a day trip though to check it out if anyone wants to gather one of these weekends

Maybe not because after the 10 point reposition how does anyone know he would have finished. This was run by a seperate marshal also who agreed with it $hit happens sometimes so people should put on their big boy panties and get over it. If he had timed out due to this than he would have had a 26 instead of a 50 which still would have put him in 6th place I believe.

Lets see what other comp have people been to recently that cost $15, everyone won at least 1 giveaway item if not 2, they raffled off many nice prizes including an XR10, and the #1 driver won $175.

In my opinion this was the best comp for the money that I have ever been to.

Maybe a copy of the rules should be available at the comps so when a questionable call comes up the people running the comp can refer to them. If you run a comp maybe you should be familiar with the rules so a situation like this is avoided.

By the way, I am on a diet and trying to get out of my big boy pants

By what i saw he had plenty of time and lots of points, plus he wasnt very happy after the run which more than likely affected his other runs. Yes he could have had a 26 but then again he also could have had a negative score putting him in at least 4th place.

I am not saying the comp was run badly it was a great comp and i had lots of fun, but the failure to look at the rules and they way the penalty was given was wrong. The judge didnt make the call it was a few peanut gallery members that pointed it out. They way his tires went over the gate was just like the many that were before and after him. Neil ran a great comp and i would go to it again, but i didnt say anywhere that the comp was bad. That call was questionable and the rules where not consulted that is my issue.

I thought I would post up since I would hate to see this whole thing get out of control and in anyway distract from a truly great comp. So, a couple of comments from my point of view:

First, Neil and I spoke this morning about it and there are no hard feeling. In fact, there were no hard feelings at the time. I judged a course for Neil later in the day and was as excited as ever to see him pull amazing lines and get a killer score.

Second, at the time the call was made, I did not agree with it. I could tell that the judge wasn't too comfortable either. This is where I need to apologize. Even though I didn't agree with the call, I should have been more gracious about accepting the decision.

When I think of a DQ and the penality attached to it, right or wrong, I associated this with someone who has deliberately broken a rule to gain an unfair advantaged (why else have a penality that erases progresses earned). So, in my mind, I felt like I was being called a cheater. I realize this is not the case, but it is how I felt at that moment on course, and it took a little while to clear my head. As I mentioned, I should have just voiced my disagreement, accepted the DQ, moved on with my day, and not let it bother me.

Third, I really do appreciate everyone who has voiced an opinion on this and I'm glad the rule is cleared up. However, I don't want this to be a big deal. I'll admit I was dissapointed yesterday, but after reading the rule that Tom posted, I'm looking at it as a learning experience for myself.

Lastly, it was a great comp. Great location, sponsors, judges, and drivers.

All things aside, including the fact that I broke on course 1, I had a great time at one of the best places still available to crawl just about anytime.

A big thanks to Bruno, Neil, Judges, spectators, and drivers for the great event, all the fun and very challenging lines. A day at a place like this is heaven, and I sure am glad it is still available for all of us to use.

Wish I could have stayed longer but commitments are plenty these days.

Thanks again and looking forward to the next event as always.
