I am assuming that there will be no scale bonus points for this event?
If so, I can save some weight by loosing the interior, and light bar.

If it starts at six, it sounds like you might need those lights.

There will be some kind of points system, we are still trying to set it up. i should have a update by tomorrow on the way it will be.

Wyhtt and I did some work on the pulling and Obstacle course yesterday. the obstacle course turned into more of a tank trap just wanted to make sure that they know waterproof is a must!! the course is not very long but there will be a ton of water and mud!

Sounds good, I will wait on stripping parts then.

Water and mud sounds good, I need to extend my antennaes up above the roof. Learned my lesson in Montana, don't submerge a Spektrum or a Losi antennae.

Yeah I noticed that. When I would get the antenna deeper then a few inches she would shut down.

I didn't have trouble with it on Pepe that day you, Scott, and me were scale running at Lutz. But many of us had trouble in Montana.

So the way the points are set up, it would be better to not have a bumper at all than to have plastic ones?

So for example, a stock honcho (who would run that in this comp?) would get +8 for all the plastic crap, but if you simply removed them you would net 0 points?

I just want to make sure I understand, since you usually aren't penalized for plastic parts in scale points. If that's the rules it's fine, I am not disputing them, just looking for clarification.

Thanks!

That seems to be the case. Where I sit scale used to be quite a bit different, I don't think the rules are there to dissuade the RTR crowd, but to get them to think outside the kit and actually get some scale aspects to the rig.
Not to say they don't look scale, but weight wise there is a huge disadvantage to metal.

In theory they could take all the plastic tube work off I suppose, but that would be a bit of an embarrassment of a scaler. Scalers to me have always been about driving something fun and semi-realistic looking.

The rule may be a little backwards, but since you pointed it out maybe there should be a section that says bare frame rails are not allowed...

Interesting. So these events are not based on time. That takes a lot of the excitement out of it imo. Competing for time is what makes people run their rigs hard.

I figure Guido is at -18 points so the interior is only worth -1 to me. Maybe I'll leave the seats and figures out and save the weight. Then again it looks so much better with them in......hmmmmm

Any restrictions on tires? Can we run comp tires?
Can I add weight to the front for the truck pull?
Can I remove weight or change tires for the mud bog?

The rules are a lot different from what we ran in Montana but it still sounds fun.

The rules are a lot different from what we ran in Montana but it still sounds fun.

the way we are going to have it set-up. the tank trap is the only one that time will be a factor. i just changed it on the above post.

We will be scoring in a way that every course winner will have a -12. then -11,-10,-9 ect. that way we can keep the scoring easy.we will use the time for the tie breaker.

The mud bog is all bonus. so if you have a rig with plastic bumpers, ect you can make up the points there. will round down for pts, if you go 6ft 7in you will get -12pts.

NO COMP TIRES ALLOWED

You can not change the rig after it is teched in. the weight and tires must stay the same for every course. if you want to run 6s lipo in the mud but 3s on the rocks, both lipos must be in the truck on every course.

I'm still not sure I'll be able to make this. If I can it looks like I can shed a lot of weight and unneeded parts/scale items and still keep it at a -15. Right now I'm sitting at a -25 and could be more by the way rules/parts are interpreted.

The tank trap will have 8-9 big holes filled with water/mud.

we will be doing the puller, hill climb and rubicon courses first.

Then the two mud ones after that. that way we all will have clean rigs for the first three.
