:twisted:Was out in Cali for a couple of days and was introduced to this by Brad and thought it was absolutely kick ass. There are some sick 1.1 and RC videos out there. This could also be a blast on snow climbs too. I cant wait to start on mine!! I know of one place that would be a hoot for this.;-) Check out the 3rd video on the bottom also..

:ror: how many people you think we could get at coal creek before we got run out of there?

Anyone know somebody who owns a quarry? :ror: I have a friend in Ft. Collins who knows a guy. They have done FOR stuff before with their nitro trucks.

We could plan a weekend this summer and go to the North Sand Hills near Walden. My 4wd club does an event in June and last year they had rc sand drags. We could also do a FOR event.

All I need is two more paddle tires and Peanut is ready to go. "thumbsup" I love Formula Off Road!!

Except it was hard enough getting guys to come out for rock races.

And I thought rock racing was the best thing ever!

Any idea on rules, rig size, ect?

I finally just about have my rig running that I can use for rock racing.

This looks fun as hell too! The Rc vids, looks like guys are running a flat bottom chassis, truggy or buggy chassis? What would you use for a starting point?

Or would just changing tires, motor and jumping up to a 6 cell work in a KOH tube chassis?

I think it would be a lot of fun, but we would defiantly need to come up with some sort of building guidelines or at least dimensions that we would need to build too. How many different locations do people know of that we could run at? Coal Creek would be fun, but at one of the last scale events there that I had a County Sheriff wasn't to happy with the dirt on the road from a couple slashes that were running up it. I would hate to loose that location.

I think E-Maxx or 4wd buggys would kick ass at it, but for simplicity sake maybe we could follow the rock racer guidelines so that we could throw paddles on them and all be competitive with each other and not have to build specialized rigs.

Allready started on mine. As of right now it's at a 14" wheelbase and looking mean:flipoff: I thought the Slash WB seemed a little short at 13.5":mrgreen: What size is a Rock Racer?

Gross reservoir has great terrain for this.

@Sparky and Glassman me n bigpopa are talkin about buildin one. Is there specs we need to follow.. Wheelbase and such??

I think you guys should just lay down some basic rules and go with it. Solid axles, transmission, max WB of 14", limited to 2.2 wheels and unmolested paddle tires. Using the rock racers as Griz suggested is a great idea too. "thumbsup"

Found the rock race rules we made up a couple years ago.

So rock race class rules (heres what I am thinking).
-limited to tube based scale rigs
-14" max wheel base
-2.2 wheels
-tire no taller then 6.5
-12.5 inches wide, no more then.
-rear steer optional
-no winching
-same body/tuber size rules as 2.2 class
Course set up and points lay out
-Single truck run at a time(possibly two at a time)
-rope lines both sides outlining direction
- reversing will cost no points or time
- winner is determined by lowest overall time
- 3 courses per comp then top 5 finals course
- if ropeline is broken by whole truck, a time penalty will be given of 10 seconds.
- if truck must be rolled over a 10 second penalty will be given
- no repairs will be given during a course run
-if course is not finished a 2 minute penalty will be given on top of slowest time.
-course will be 36 inches wide at the narrowest point
-Caution tape for rope lines.(may change)
-its a timed event counting up best time wins, but i also figure we time it depending on how long the course are going to be. (like 2.2). AKA timing out is a possibilty.

I like it besides roping it off and all that goes with it, plus with all that power we'll be lucky to clear the flags in the right direction:lmao: It would be nice to be able to come out and set for the next set of flags. Also, I like leaving the chassis open."thumbsup"

Remember to upgrader your driveshafts.. :lmao::lmao:
We usually run Axial Ax10 frame, 14" wheelbase, VXL gearbox, axial axles and Losidampers with gold springs. At least 5700Kv and 3 cell..
Biggest problem we have with the rc cars here is hot motors and battery's. Have to give them some time to cool of very often..:cry::cry:
