This posting is primarily for the "management" and Wraith owners participating in the series. While I was posting up on The Crawl Space's Run To The Hills event thread, it made me think about how these classes are set up currently. The question came up of whether the Wraiths will be in with the 2.2's or if they will make their own class. The point was made (by me) that the Wraith's have an unfair advantage over your typical SCX based 2.2 scaler with the additional width and wheelbase. I'm currently in the lead in the 2.2 class with my Wraith. I do know there are currently enough Wraiths to warrant their own class and it will give people with a "normal" 2.2 scaler a fair chance at coming out on top of the standings. Wraith owners and management chime in on this yay or nay for creating a Wraith class. In a nutshell, What I'd like to see is the existing 2.2 class split up by axles used. Normal width 2.2 SCX based scalers in one class and Wraiths (or possibly Wraith axled scalers) in another class. Here is where discussion will need to be done as far as Wraith axled SCX chassis scalers (WrSCX <-new term ) using 1.9 or 2.2 tires. I'm indifferent about the 2.2 WrSCX guys competing with the Wraiths as that will primarily be between them and the 2.2 guys. I don't mind competing with them in the Wraith class if it comes down to it. I personally don't have an issue with the 1.9 WrSCX guys competing in a normal 1.9 class (other than thinking such a wide axle looks funky with a 1.9 tire on it ) as the additional width actually can hinder them with a MUCH wider area underneath the vehicle to grab rocks, obstacles and generally fall victim to any and all axle grabbers without providing an advantage over a normal 1.9 vehicle. Yes, they will be more stable in sidehills, but with the way that a scale course is generally set up, I doubt that extra sidehill stability will be put to the test on more than a few occasions. Questions? Comments? Discussion? Marcus |

I see what you are saying with the comp that is going on here as far as three of the top 5 are wraith trucks, but as best as I understand on a national level a wraith still falls in the category with the class three rigs, and I don't see a major reason to separate them as of yet. I think we would have to sit down and look at the major advantages and disadvantages they have with one or two of the other class three rigs and go from there. Perhaps someone on the rules committee can chime in on this. On a personal note, I would be fine with running only wraiths, but I think a lot of the difference depends on course and driver. I could see if you are running a dig or 4ws getting their own class. I would just like to see us stay a little closer to rules for nationals. | |

Normally I would agree with you on keeping towards nationally sanctioned rules. But this series is adhering to its own set of rules and is being run as such. -There are no scale points awarded -There is no differentiation between classes within a size of rig -There is no time accrued for various penalties (reversing, winching, gates, etc) with exception to breakage. -no one is stopping the "true" class 3 rigs from stepping into this series and potentially mopping the floor with any or all of us. If you want to adhere more to the national scale rules, I would say run in the Colorado Scale Series as that series does go MUCH closer to standard rules. This series is more for fun than a full out competition. Don't get me wrong, it's fun winning, but I want to give other people a more fair chance in the 2.2 class. My original post is only taking into account this series and no other comps held by anyone else. Marcus |

| wriath is their own class
Great idea Marcus props to you.. im am down for changing it up and separating the wraiths into their own class and not just because im in 5th place lol no but seriously im fine with it and i would like to have the final say so at the end but i want to know how everyone else feels... like i have always said its up to the drivers. With that said we will make the final decision at the next comp durring the drivers meeting if we get enough input. If we do change it all of the wraith drivers series points WILL transfer over to the new class and then they will be positioned acording to current points. as far as the other 2.2 rigs they will move up in place to fill the gaps of the wraiths. As far as other rigs and how they are set up if they show up it will be up to me and t ALL the other drivers in the series on witch class they will be in that will be the most apropriet (i know that is not spelled right lol) for how that rig is set up and we will explain that to that particular driver so they know why. How does this sound guys? |

Keep in mind it would also be another class to arrange prizes for, but it would be fine either way. |

So My 1.9 with wraith axials will be in with the wraiths or will my truck be the only truck in the 1.9 wraith class? Just a question.

I would say still with the 1.9 still because its almost like a disadvantage because your axels are lower and hanging up more, but let me run it by everyone before i make a final call. guys? what do we think?

I think a Wraith is a Wraith and a 1.9 is a 1.9 if it is built from a scale chassis I.E. scx10 or like and it has 2.2 or 1.9 let them run that class, if it is a Wraith give them a new class with the same scores and run it. The true scale rules are great for a national type comp or series but none of us want or can run on that level yet so lets just have fun. Maybe more Wraith drivers will get involved and it will just grow from there, after all that's what Brandon and I had in mind when we started this series. It's a fun comp with new growth in mind. My vote is for 3 classes! When we started this there was just one class then it was divided and ppl were happy so if it calls for another division go for it!
