Default The Crawl Space Fall/Winter Scale Fun Runs & G6 GTGs

The Fall/Winter season is upon us and time start a new Scale series

This will be an informal fun run and GTG comp series, geared towards timed courses with scale points being tallied for bonus time on each course.

This series is focused on scale appearance and having fun. Please come out with a vehicle of scale appearance, a smile on your face and ready to have fun!

General Details:
-Fun Runs will be held on Sundays starting at 10am and run for about 2 hours and are free events.

-G6 GTG's will be held on Sunday mornings starting at 10am and run for the day til about 2pm. and require a nominal comp fee per driver.

Because of the quickly changing weather during this season please keep an eye on this thread, our facebook or website for up to the minute changes in times and/or locations. Please dress accordingly.

Scale points and course set up will be based on SORCCA rules and scale point system.

There is no minimum scale points required to run the G6 events but are suggested.

Waterproofing is not needed but highly encouraged.

Operable winches are not needed but highly encouraged.

To keep it simple and fun as possible trucks will be seperated into to basic classes, 1.9 and 2.2 wheel size.

Drivers will run in 3 seperate sub-classes.
-Solo Runner; basically you run by yourself.
-Buddy Runners; 2 drivers working together.
-Team Runners; 3-4 drivers working together.

Each class will be judged and timed seperately, ie; Solo Runners run against Solo Runners, Buddy Runners run against other Buddy Runners, etc, etc.

Rules:
Its pretty simple, if you hit a gate, do not progress a gate cleanly, cannot self recover or get rolled over under the trucks own power or help from another truck, must make an on or off course repair or touch your rig in anyway while on course you must reposition back to the last gate progressed.

To clarify, a clean progress is when all the trucks tires pass between the gate markers. There are no penalties for reserves or winching.

Please post up if you have any questions, comments or concerns

Event Schedule:
-Sunday, November 11th. G6 Gear up party. 7pm-9pm. @ The Crawl Space.
We will be tallying scale points so bring your truck, and going over the boat launch and tire change challenges.

Food will be provided and drinks available at the normal cost

Alrighty gang, its time for some full on scaler fun this weekend
Heres the details and all the info we could think of

Sand Creek G6 411
The general address for the comp site is 4595 Quebec St. Denver, CO.
You can park along the street and in the lots next to the street and the comp site is on the east side of the street.

Please dress accordingly, the weather looks like its holding in the mid-50's for the day. We will post an update if there are and dramatic changes in the weather.

Be sure to pack food, drinks and water for the lunch break at noon.

-Drivers will compete in 2 main classes, 1.9 and 2.2.
Classes will be divided into 3 sub groups; Solo Runners, Buddy Runners and Team Runners, each sub group will be judged and timed separately within each sub group, ie; Solo Runners will be competing against other Solo Runners in points and time, Buddy Runners will compete against other Buddy Runenrs, etc.

-For this G6 we will be incorporating 2 new challenges. the tire change section and the boat launch.

-Tire Change Challenge.
-Drivers may have any size spare tire, 1.9 or 2.2 regardless of which class they are running in.
-Drivers must carry their spare tire on their rig for the entire event, no pocketing or backpack carries.

In the tire change section drivers will have to stop their truck in the designated tire change area, remove one of the rear tires from the rig and replace it with the spare tire. At least 2 tires of the truck must be in contact with the ground at all times during tire changes, no full pick ups otherwise its is a DQ.

Drivers will then run a section of the course to the next tire change area. Once the drivers reach the next tire change area they must replace the spare tire with original running tire, again at least 2 tires of the truck must be in contact with the ground at all times during tire changes.

*Drivers may choose not to do the tire change challenge and will result in a 15 minute penalty added to their over all score.*

-Boat Launch Challenge.
-A G6 “boat” is defined as an object of any size that will float on water. We ask that your boat/watercraft be of scale appearance, a stick you find on the ground strapped to your rig is not a boat.
-Drivers must carry their boat/watercraft on their rig for the entire event, no pocketing or backpack carries.

In the Boat Launch sections drivers will stop their truck in the designated boat launch area, unload your boat and place it in the water to float downstream. Then the driver will run his truck along the “river” bank section of the course to the boat dock to retrieve their boat. Driver will place the boat back on their truck and move on thru the course.

*Drivers may choose not to do the boat launch challenge and will result in a 15 minute penalty added to their over all score.*

Please post up if you have any questions, comments or concerns

Will zip tie's or Velcro be allowed to secure the spare tire and boat to the rig?

Unfortunately we haven't been able to find boats for people to borrow. You can build a "boat" out of styrene, foam board, lexan or whatever as long as it floats. Now you can modify a spare tire to be a boat, like this

Basically strap some other scale accessory to it and you're good to go

Then its probably not a good boat Just kidding

If a drivers boat sinks during its travel down the river they will stop where they are on course, retrieve the boat and re-launch the boat at the designated boat launch area. If after 3 attempts the driver can not get their boat to float down to the "boat dock" they can retrive their boat, place it back on their truck and move on with the course

This is the best idea we could come up with with all the possible variable issues with the boat launch and still keep it fun and fast paced.

We're completely open to any other ideas and put it to all the drivers on what everyone feels is fair

You bet buddy we've been watching the weather all week and its going to be a perfect day.

just scouted the comp site this morning and I think we have a fun course set up

See everyone bright and early, 9am sign in and tech, 9:45 drivers meeting and course walk thru and 10am course opens

Here's some directions for no one that hasn't been to Sand Creek:
left onto Quebec st. heading north under I-70 take a left on the second light onto Sand Creek Dr. and take the next left at E. 47th. Ave. over the bridge. Take the next left onto Quebec st. and park along the right side of the road or in the parking lot of the hotel and comp site will be to your left

Awesome good time at Sand Creek this weekend
Thanks everyone that helped get the course set up and all that participated, its was our biggest turn out yet

I did the best I could with the scores, OpenOffice doesn't like time calculations for some reason. I may have missed some here n there but bragging rights are just a bonus, the real fun was on course

I think we'll have to make a specific score sheet for each event depending on what challenges are set up on the course to track points better

On to some pics.
