Rules and 411
A Scale Adventure is just like the name implies, Adventure.
Drivers will navigate a course marked with numbered gates and undertake different skill sections for bonus time to be applied to their overall score after completing the course.

-Classes: There are several classes to choose from. A driver may only challenge themselves in more than one class if time allows and the second class is a different tire size. Each class will offer a driver different levels of fun with different challenges and guidelines.

-1.9 Adventure. This class is for drivers of 1.9 scale vehicles who want to move at their own pace. This is the class for the driver who realizes that finishing the adventure is the goal. Drivers may use natural winch anchor points or be assisted by other Adventurists by a tow strap, winch, or another drivers shoe laces. The Adventurist may partner up with fellow Adventurist or several to experience the stage as a group and help each other reach the goal of finishing.

-2.2 Adventure. This Class is the same as the Adventurist 1.9 Class. Wraiths and Wronchos are at home in this class.

-1.9 Runner. This class is for drivers of 1.9 vehicles who take their Scale Adventure to the next level. A Runner class driver will have to complete the course in the quickest time possible. Drivers may skip skill sections within a course. Drivers of this class must use natural winch anchors points only or be helped from another Runner. Any outside assistance will result in a Stage DNF.

-2.2 Runner. The same as the 1.9 Runner class, except 2.2 tires are used.

Scale Adventure Rig Requirements.
-A scale vehicle must be 1/10 car / truck with a scale chassis or custom tube scale chassis.
- Tires may be 1.55, 1.9, or 2.2, but must be a licensed manufactured tire or knock offs. Tires must resemble the real thing and can be siped or grooved.
-A tow strap is mandatory.
-Minimum 10 scale points.
-A winch is not mandatory, but highly recommended.
-A spare tire is not mandatory, but highly recommended.
-All scale recovery items/tools, must be attached to the vehicle and after their use, be placed back on the vehicle. This includes sand ramps, tow straps, and hi-lift jacks. Real tools may be carried by the driver.
-All classes are allowed to use dig and 4 wheel steering on their scalers if they choose.

Scale Adventure rules.
Rule #1. HAVE FUN! Each class has different parameters that must
be met, but you are only cheating yourself out of one of the best
experiences you will have with your r/c scaler by not driving the course as set.

Rule #2. NO HAND OF GOD. (HOG) a driver may not assist,
stop, catch, or kick his/her vehicle. There are no penalties for
reverses, winching or using your tow strap so DRIVE SMART!
Performing on course repairs or having to touch your vehicle for
recovery purposes is not hogging.
Picking your vehicle up out of water, mud, sand or rolling it over
onto its wheels with your hand is all examples of hogging
your vehicle and resulting in a disqualification penalty.
Log the HOG incident in your drivers log & report it to Base Camp.

Rule #3. A driver can not drive through a gate & reverse back
through it to avoid trail obstacles. This will result in a DQ.
A course is directional & must be progressed in the intended
direction of travel. Reversing through the trail marker in the
intended direction is ok & allowed during mandatory
reverse skill sections.

Rule #4. Skill sections may be present on course & will be marked
with different colored gates/flags at the entrance and exit.
There may or may not be a course gates within a skill section.
Skill sections may be bypassed but will incur time penalty against
your score.

Scoring, points and penalties.
Driver with the lowest points comes in 1st. place, second lowest points, second place, etc, etc.

-Time = points.
-Gate marker penalty: +5 minutes.
-Boundary line: +5 minutes.
-Tow rope penalty: +1 minute.
-Reverse course direction: DQ.
-Hand Of God (HOG): DQ.

Skill Sections, where applicable.

What's the plans for the night run? I will be able to make that at least. Any Denverites coming? The beer is better here.

Good question "thumbsup"
We have 2 options, a scale adventure or a SORCCA style scale comp, which we will leave up to the participating drivers to vote on. Either post up here or we'll take a vote at the day time event. We are open to either because both are a blast at night "thumbsup"

The only way I would be able to do this is if someone wanted to ride along/help with gas, or give a ride and ill help with gas. Looks like pretty sweet terrain though. Is there camping for the night run or cheap hotels near by?

Question, There is a group from Craig that might be coming down. In the adventure class can 2.2 and 1.9 run together? Is there a limit on group size running together or is it pretty much a one at a time thing? This is new to us and we would like to get something like this in our area. Thanks for the info in advance. Sounds like a great time.

Aloha Frank, Hope you guys can make it. For the day time Scale Adventure both 1.9 and 2.2 class can run together and there is no limit to the amount of people in a group.

Basically think if it like a timed and gated trail run with challenge sections and bonus items "thumbsup" Drivers will all start together and move at their own pace through the course whether running or walking.

This sound like a very good time. I've read about these comps, and thought I would never get to participate in one, now there is one in my town. My son and I will be there. One question, my boys wraith has the rip saw tires on, do they need replaced with a more scale tire?

Its a blast! We're glad to be able to bring such an event to your neck of the woods, plus it will be our first time running terrain in GJ

The ripsaw tires are considered a scale tire so need to change them out "thumbsup"

Good to hear "thumbsup" We will mark the entrance to the area with orange flagging tape, keep an eye out for that and you should be good to go.

Quick update drivers.

Drivers running in the night event will be allowed any number of lights on their truck. Drivers may also have one head lamp and one flashlight attached to their radio. Helping others drivers on course with lighting the way in the spirit of fun "thumbsup"
