Things to do with ac power supply?
 

I picked up a common sence power supply yesterday from the local hobby shop and Im assuming that you could do more than just charge batterys?What do you people use your ac power supply for besides charging??
What else can I do with 29.1 amps?:shock:

I use it for charging, motor dyno and com lathe.

Running a Cb base station. Testing car stereo equipment......"thumbsup"

Do you need to put an inline fuse in?
Assuming not to the head unit cause theirs usually a fuse in the back.
Inline fuse from 12+ to ac power supplies DC channel + correct?
Is it this easy dito w/ -'s??
Same with the PA/CB system??

I just had the thought when I bought this that their must be a million other uses than just charging rc's:shock:

I always fuse my goodies that i hook up to mine. Just inline on the positive side .
I was running a pioneer head unit and a little bazooka amp with a JL audio 10 for my shop stereo.

Same with CB's. Most cb cords have the little fuse already in there. Most Cobra and Uniden cb's have a selectable switch for a pa speaker also.:twisted:

How many amps does your shop stereo draw out?

Enough to trip my protection on my 20 amp triplite power source! But only if I really try to crank it up hard. It is a 500 watt class d amp.:mrgreen:

niiccee, I got a 29.1 amp common scence Power source, would a capacitor keep from tripping the power protector?

amps x volts = watts
29.1 x 12 = 348 watts

A capacitor is basically just a "battery" in parallel that takes up the inital amperage. If you think you need a capacitor, power you system with a car battery and just charge the battery. I wouldnt want to strain a power supply. It will get hot fast....

edit... Just be careful of the fumes that come from charging a lead acid battery if you go that route
