Default Resizing Pic for avatar

Hey guys I figured out how to resize the pic to get it 100x100 but can you change the size of the file to fit in the 4.9KB limit. I want to use a real picture but am having a hrad time finding one that is less than 4.9 KB. Thanks for the help!

For home use, try saving it as a .gif, and using a limited number of colors (it is just an avatar, you don't need a lot of color).

I just scale back the quality of the pic a little until it fits the required size. That pic was pretty close as it was, just needed a little tweaking.

I think it's all in the editing software you use. I use Macromedia Fireworks 8. I can re-size pics then export them and set the quality to what I want before saving the re-sized pic.

The only reason I know how to do it is jason and badger showed me.

I don't know if you have met him? I have, a couple times now, and he is a nerd down to the bone.
