Default Why are posts being deleted?

I noticed this because it was my own post on my own thread. I have been a part of this community since 2006 and this is the first time I have had this happen. At first I would have thought it to be a board glitch but my sig was messed with too (I have since straightened it out). In the Scale Accessories forum I put up a post with pictures of my current scale garage build. I had been sharing it on Instagram but decided to share here, even remember a post not too long ago about the decline of posts here due to social media. So I shared. Couple of people responded, that's cool, great for motivation. One asked for my Instagram account so I shared it. All three posts under my original have been deleted now, theirs and mine. Is there some rule now that I have missed that says don't share Instagram accounts? Or was there some other reason? Or was it a board glitch? I am curious to know the reason so if I did something wrong, or if someone else did, this does not happen again.

They will simply claim they don't delete posts when they do. It's not only you that it's happened to. But you're a star holder so you'd think they wouldn't do that to you. Look how far that got you...

I haven't noticed any of my own posts going away but I did notice in my wraith thread that I'm now talking to myself so at least a couple posts are gone.

Last time I spoke up I believe the response was "Bogus, that doesn't happen"

Seems to be happening more and more.

Here you go.

Can't wrap my head around it. Mods deleting comments they don't think are good enough on a site who's traffic has died in the past year. Always good to drive away eager new members.

Peepee can claim whatever he wants but unless whoever it was I was talking to in my wraith thread deleted their posts for some reason then either a mod did it or there is some weird glitch in the matrix.

when somebody (usually a new member) spams rcc on a single visit with 20 or 30 'nice truck' posts, its easy to spot, and typically those posts get blanket deleted without bothering to investigate each post to ensure the continuity of the thread isnt messed up.

i didnt delete the posts in question so i cant answer why the reply with instagram link was also deleted, although i would imagine it was because it woulda looked kinda weird on its own after the 2 posts above it were deleted.

So where did the original post #10 go?

The beater

I quoted Correll as seen in what is now post #11. I'm basically conversing with myself after that and it's obvious I was responding to someone although I didn't quote them before their posts were deleted. If it was the users then although odd, whatever it's their choice but if not wtf was the reason? I don't recall who it was but they had questions and I answered so it probably wasn't some newbie scratching for their 30.

This isn't about picture size and nobody is whining. We're simply wondering what the reason could be.

I was notified by a moderator that pictures being too large would be deleted.
And that if they're not... it's a gratuity on their part and their judgement call.

Occasionally the mods have let that slide if they deem it pertinent to the thread
and is not considered repetitive.
But even then... there are limitations regardless.

In trying to comply with the posting rules here...
I have reduced my photobucket upload size to 800 X 600
in order to attempt conformity to the posting rules of this forum.

Photobucket changed their default uploads to 1240 X 768 or something to that order.
So be sure to check the tools and change that to the 800 X 600 upload
if you want your pictures to remain posted here.

But even then... the moderators can delete them if they don't conform to the forums rules.

I thought using an external photo host wasn't of equal storage use here...
but obviously I was told otherwise.

This forum has limits ( MB ? ) for storage
I think is how it was explained to me.
And non compliance can be met with deletion.

Obviously the mods will alter/delete posts if the wording is offensive
or does not abide by this forum's posting rules.

Even more concerning is that they will alter your "PM's" to other users
if they feel compelled to do so.

So bottom line... there is no such thing as a "Private Messages" here.
Nor any other privacy rights.

I would suppose everyone should read the posting rules...
if they haven't already.

Not every forum has the same posting rules or photo size limits.

It is the responsibility of the user to read the rules and know.
Otherwise... you will likely be messaged regarding.

But a moderator contacting a user regarding broken rules...
is entirely their call.

Using this forum is to be considered a privilege with little rights.

So reading and knowing the rules set forth/established...
is the users responsibility.

Guess if one doesn't like it... no one twists their arm for their participation.

Remember... this is a privately funded forum...
So the proprietors can establish any rules that they like.

Yes you are being watched and censored if mods choose to do so.

In other words...

Whining will do no good and nets zero empathy.

As a contributing member you obtain some other special privileges.
Tho' quite obviously I've opted not to participate in that support.
I think this post should be deleted because you purposely make your posts longer by needlessly hitting enter before you run out of room on the current line. WHY?

Sorry.
Maybe I should have...

I wasn't insinuating that any particular individual user was whining.

Was just generalizing.

But I'm sure the mods had their reasons.
Possibly a link was not in compliance or became corrupted.

could be that user posted alot of fluff in a short time and it was all deemed chatter and not tech or back and forth convos. if a member spams across multiple posts in a short time with 'cool truck' or 'where did you get that winch' posts, theres a good chance all the posts from that time period will be pruned without the consideration that one or two of those posts might be conversational or relevant.

I don't spam, in fact I rarely ever post. I could care less about having 30 posts for a star, I've paid for stars the last two years. I've had some of my posts deleted, one I recall was really just a comment on someones amazing terrain they had to crawl on. A week later I went to see more on his thread and my post was gone. Over zealous mod's? Of all the forums I've ever been subscribed to, the way this one is modded has me second guessing buying a second star. I was actually insulted that a mod had perceived my post as an attempt to get my post count up. It was silly, but it's made it's impression on this harmless subscriber.

Tacocrawler, bogus we can alter your PMs. Never ever was that an option for mods or admins.

And Dennis76, you don't need 30 posts to buy a star.

Yer right about that, 'cept for your typo... but the forum's programming does.

I'm sure it must exist to protect its vendors. But IMO that is over reaching.

Better to be bogus then a bogart. Lol
