Default RCC doesn't work on my home computers?

Works fine here at work but when I go home I can't get the page to pull up. I have a wireless network at home (apartment) and both my desktop and laptop are on it. Neither one can open the RCC page. Any ideas?

Nick

Open a command prompt window:

"START" -> "Run" -> Type "cmd" and a black window will appear

Type: ping www.rccrawler.com -- See if it says request timed out, or if it just sits there.

If it's working correctly it should reply 4 times and should show the millesecond response time.

If you get request timed out, most likely something is blocking access to that URL.

Thanks. I'll have to try that out when I get home. I just find it strange that both my labtop and my desktop can't access the site.

Your wife asked us to deny you access, she said you weren't getting crap done around the house.

Good try but I'm not married!!!!!!

I Do have a girlfriend and shes pretty understanding about the RCs. I brought home a Wheely King last night and after I charged it up and ran it around she asked "you mean you haven't changed anything on it yet?" She's getting to know how I work!

I tried that ping solution but it timed out on the responses. What could it be?

I had something similar happen a couple of years ago. One day all of a sudden I couldn't see Pirate from work. We went through the same tests you have. I called my ISP and they fixed it. I think they said it was dns problem.

At the bottom of the page it does say something about it being a dns error or the sites server couldn't be reached.

That's exactly the same message I was getting. Call your ISP.

did you use explorer before using firefox? is it a pain to download? my buddy at work uses firefox too and likes it. I wonder if that would fix it? It's going to be a pain to call ISP because i'm not the account holder.

A few months ago, Charter was experiencing DNS problems. Well, they always do, but this was affecting Pirate. JIA and I couldn't get to it from home.
Try connecting to http://206.180.232.131/~rcracer instead.
When you tried pinging rccrawler.com, did it give you an IP, or say that the host could not be found?

try this:

1. Open the start menu and click on the "Run" icon.
2. In the "Run" dialog box type in "cmd", then click OK.
3. This should open up a black box with a command line, if not make sure you spelled "cmd" correctly.
4. At the command line type in "ipconfig /flushdns" and press enter.
5. You should get a confirmation that says "Windows IP Configuration Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache"
6. If you don't get this confirmation double check your spelling of "ipconfig /flushdns".
7. Congratulations you have now flushed out the old DNS entries on your computer!
