Default Quick Search

Can you set it so the quick search only searches titles, so to search titles and threads you go to advanced search? It's not really a quick search when it returns a ton of irrelevant threads that happen to hit on search terms. Or maybe the option could be a checkbox in the quick search box?

That is a drop down menu option within "Advanced Search."

Yeah I know, but default quick search would be better if it was only in thread titles, then if you want to do a deep search, go to advanced.
Thanks anyway, but I didn't ask how to find "Advanced Search"

Learn to phrase your searches better. I find a lot of the info i want to search for is not in the title, as people never title their threads properly.

A quick search is just that, quick. That was designed for users to quickly type in a search phrase and that's it.

If you are not finding what you are looking for in a quick search then that is why the advanced search is available.

If we restrict what a "quick search" searches (thread titles only) it will be misleading to someone who is not aware of this restriction and is expecting it to find relevant data in the entire post.

Yes, but on the other hand, a quick search produces so many results that are irrelevant to your search, you loose the advantage of a quick search browsing through threads that hit on search terms.
But on the other other hand, newbs not knowing what terms to search for is more likely to get a hit for what theyr looking for, or, give up searching because so many hits come back with titles that have nothing to do with what their looking for.
