I predict that most of VARCOR will almost laugh at our performances of these first few comps come June or so. Our performance from comp to comp will increase by great means in the coming events. From what I have seen from myself, and others, what can go wrong WILL go wrong right smack dab in the middle of a comp!!! This just teaches us to prepare for the unexpected ........... and increase our ability to rule at comps. I have learned more from the two times I have run with VARCOR [for a total of a few hours] than I have ever learned with dozens of hours of just running by myself!!

in the end, we only count the top 6... so it can still be anyone's game...

The 2nd event in the inaugural 2008 VARCOR Point Series Championships had a great turn out. Even with the rain, thunderstorm, and wind, everyone had a great time.

Course 1, which was setup by me (Swell Searcher), proved to be more challenging than expected since everything was wet. Most drivers pointed out attempting Gate 6 which was a steep, wet, moss covered climb. Once the conditions dried out, the later drivers were able to climb up thru the gate. I believe, only 3 drivers finished the course without a DNF. This is definitely a course everyone wants to try in the summer in the dry conditions.

Course 2, setup by Mark (04 Rubicon) and Chris (Riffster), proved to be a fun straight course. In some cases, a wider track helped you straddle the rocks while a narrower track helped you thru some of the gates. I believe between Gates 2 and 3 were the most challenging since you had to traverse a incline incline to a rock bed followed by right, possible off camber Gate 3.

Course 3 was Course 2 run backwards. Gate 1 proved to be the challenge here since the gate was situated between a rock crack and a flat rock. I think the line was straight up over the flat rock verse the crack since it was getting dig out by the previous drivers.

Overall, everyone had a great time. Riffster may have a new nickname, Gate 2. Some of the Rookie drivers performed well including Banchee and RckCrshr. But the rookie to watch for is ChargerGuy, finishing 2nd at his 1st competition.

The truck RAN well...at least the new electronics did well. I had some real issues with the front tires though. I think I really need to experiment with some different foams in the front. No foams, combined with the weight of the clod and the tall sidewall height of the tire, caused me some serious issues(along with a possible lack of skill). I had little steering because the tires would just roll under, and once I twisted up the sidewalls, it would just look mangled and I had little control over the fronts. It was enough stress on the front that I actually melted the armature in the steering servo! Now I'm starting to get a feel for what the truck may need to be fairly competitive though, so we will see!

I have a LOT of pics...but I reached the limit on Photobucket...I may empty it in a while and put up about half of this weekend's pics. If at any time someone wants me to, I will burn CD copies of the pics for you!

And yes.....most of my truck troubles were at....gate 2! Chargerguy and Robb were lookin' pretty talented...if Rbb gets 'The Glitcher' right...we are all in trouble!

Sorry everyone...I was wrong about my limit on photobucket. They said I reached my limit of 100 photos...they were refering to how many I could upload at one time. Here they are, I think the last 4 pages are from last weekend's gtg and the comp at Hobbytown.

So I have a question , or maybe I missed something ?
We all ran as comp ? or maybe we didn't run scale ?
I thought we were running different classes ????

It was not my intention to run that way .
Or how does this affect scores when there are different classes ?

Sweet. Can't wait to see it once you've got it all set up.
