Default Griz's 2008 Scale Nats pics

Here's the pics from my camera, Racerx took some of these as well.

Sure was great seeing the familiar faces and meeting some new ones. Enjoy and if you want larger pics drop me a PM, I've got all these in 2240 x 1488.

Clicky here for full album

Some good ones.

Hey Griz, nice set of photos you we're working the camera hard and steady. I really liked the close sequencing you did and by clicking the next button you get a nice sense of the course obstacles as the trucks move threw the gates. Well done the best yet

Next time I'll man up and buy a name-brand SD card

Thanks guys, my theory is to shoot 100 pics so that I get 10 good ones. Shooting with the DSLR without being able to look through the viewfinder makes for some goofy pics sometimes but once in a while, even those turn out ok.

However, when you can look through the viewfinder, it is way better then looking at an lcd screen that is being blanked out by the sun.

I have a Nikon D50 (w/18-70mm nikkor lens) myself and could never go back to using a P&S camera. What mode were you shooting in? Auto? Manual?

Awesome photos.

Mine's a D70. I use auto focus but use either aperture priority or shutter priority. I think most of the pics were shot on shutter priority because of all the shadows. I still feel I am very much a beginner but since I started learning how to use shutter and aperture priority, I pretty much never use full auto. Unless I don't have time to figure out the lighting; then I might use auto and hope it turns out ok.

I hate using point and shoots anymore myself. My Cannon G5 takes good pics and is more compact, but when I know I want good pics I use the D70. For my daughter's soccer games I have an 80-170mm lens.

Thanks Nerve.

Thanks Stormin, not quite all of them but if I try to snap off 2 or 3, check the focus and the framing, adjust if necessary, then snap a few more. Some of the pics I was able to use the viewfinder.

The first 95 trail pics or so were taken by racerx, I don't think he's used to the SLR and taking pics without using the viewfinder, that's why there are several blurry ones. It takes some practice to take good pics while holding the camera down by yer foot.
I saw Dystance and Tim Magee doing it before so I started practicing. Tim has also given me lots of advice so that has helped me out a ton.

Thats what I love about the D70 though, the pics really come out clear.

Yeah that it was caught my attention first off, was the D70 information below the photos. Which was why I continued to take a look at them because they were coming out pretty good!

We have our first comp June 14th and when im not running, I hope to be snapping off photos. I'm still kind of a newbie when it comes to camera stuff as well. I have had my D50 for just over a year now, but there is still settings I dont know what they do.. :-P

I have been looking to an f2.8 zoom lens and the 1.8d lens as well.

Lets hope for the best when I get to taking some pics @ our comp.

It was a great time Takoba. There was somewhere around 140 rigs just in the 2.2 scale and 1.9 scale classes. Then there was all the USRCCA comp rigs, plus all the extra rigs people brought to play around with. There must have been 300 rigs there during the weekend.

I really enjoyed the album Griz, thanks for sharing. Some great looking rigs there but Guido just seems to out shine the rest, love the attention to detail and the colors and the stance and the..., Oh I'll stop now before everyone else gets jealous!
Montana sure looks like it has beautiful wilderness areas, can't beat that.

Haha, Thanks, I got a few of yours. It's a good looking rig.
The eye candy was top notch for sure, I know I got a few ideas while I was there.
