I'm going to state just my OPINION on the water discussion. A 2.2 tire is @ a 44-52" in 1:1 and a 1.9 is @ a 38". Mudholes/water holes are cool, but most holes aren't much deeper than a larger tire. And creek/river crossings are few and far between these days, environmental impact reasoning.... I'll go through water no problem, as long as it's not going to fry my electronics (injest water into my engine, so to speak).....YEAH, YEAH, I know, snorkles are out there (waterproof my electrics)....but few guys are running water that deep in the real world on tough trails....it just isn't there, besides a few short mud holes....well, Florida maybe...haha! Now if I roll INTO a creek/river, that's just my bad driving.....hehe Just a few random thoughts..... Muddy trails????? That would be awesome! |

The water issue is always touchy, I'm not in favor of anything deep enough that will cover a 2.2 tire. I drive through water all the time, just nothing that completely submerges my axle-mounted servo....so I guess axle deep is as deep as I would drive through. With my 1.9 tho, everything is up on the rails so I could go over axle deep. Mud's no big deal, just clean it up right after |

I'm really looking forward to May. I've only been crawlin for about a year with a 2.2 comp rig. I just built my first 1.9 scale rig a couple of weeks ago so the scale stuff is pretty fresh for me. I'm trying to decide how I want to go for a winch because money is limited but I feel one is needed for this comp. With that said, I'm sure my truck won't be as capable as most because I have a steep learning curve ahead of me and I'm sure my driving won't be the best. I'm just wanting to have a blast, check out what others are running and make some new friends. I built my scaler to be waterproof and its the best thing I ever did. I absolutly love to attack mud/water/snow/dirt/rock with a balls out drop the hammer and hope for the best approach. Whatever you put in the course I'll do my best to run over and I'll have a smile on my face the whole time. |
