I'd be happy to skip driving for the day in order to hold the pens and keep the line in order.

The event will most likely be moved to Lucia Falls, near Battleground, WA due to high river levels at George Rogers.

We been having great PNW weather last few days too! Lots of rain, clouds, wind and no sight of the sun. It's said to be nice tomorrow(Sunday) for the comp though!

Great courses and some great drivers were really kicking ass today. Thanks to Axial for shipping Bender out to us so we could let him roll on some PNW mono-rock.

Big thanks goes out to Brian Parker for also playing in the PNW clouded over sunshine for the day!

A.W.C.C.Q. / ORCRC RND 7 Results

WOW!!! Do not pass up the chance to attend a comp @ Lucia Falls. This area is in my top 3 favorite places to comp. I could not describe how beautifully technical and hypnotic this epic comp location is. The only way it gets better, I was told, is when the water is lower and exposes the natural "bowls" caused by the rapids. I could only imagine, because what we had was "tha shiz-nit".

I have always been inspired by the PNWs talented drivers. Thier poise under pressure and ability to drive in rainy weather w/ wet tires has always impressed me. I was not let down. 43 pro drivers, several nationally ranked and others are legends in the making, showed up to throw down on 4 BPRCA sanctioned courses. The end result will be remembered as the greatest top 5 shootout to date ( more about that later).

First, the 2.2 novice class recap. There is a growing number of novices in ORCRC and WARCRC who will be, without a doubt, assets to the Pro Class when thier time comes. Thier driving skills were tested on longer than usual courses and gates that pros hit, (course 1, gate 3).

A huge shout out goes to the winner of the Novice Class, Willy Davis. Willy is a BPRCA novice and already signed up for the '09 Axial West Coast Championships, so he gave his BPRCA paid invite to the 2nd place finisher, Woody Evans. This kind of generosity is what attracts people to rc crawling. Thank you Willy and Congradulations Woody. We look forward to seeing you in three weeks.

Great job, Novices! It was a pleasure judging for you.

Here are the results:

2.2 Novice:

B.P.R.C.A. ''09 AWCCQ Lucia Falls
FINSISH # DRIVER COURSE 1 COURSE 2 COURSE 3 COURSE 4 FINAL SCORE O.A. POINTS
1 Willy Davis 4 -5 -8 4 -5
2 Woody Evans 1 30 7 10 48
3 Sabrina Wallstrom 7 21 4 34 66
4 Sh-N0 Davis 21 22 5 30 78
5 Ryan Wheller 10 30 36 17 93
6 jon hill 15 28 36 16 95
7 Scott Melton 50 30 20 -5 95
8 Sam Hair 28 24 12 34 98
9 Hunter Evans 4 36 30 38 108
10 Jamie Dalton 30 10 36 38 114
11 Mitchel Barber 30 30 30 36 126
12 Wayne Hair 30 30 34 32 126
13 Rodney Jim 26 38 34 34 132
14 Justin Huff 26 34 36 38 134
15 Dan Coop 50 50 36 50 186

Note: All ties are broken by course 1 score.

Pro Class? Let's just say those that what the pros, where watching future r/c crawler hall of famers in pure unadulterated action. The pro courses where nightmares for some, "wet" dreams for others, and a reality of what is to come in three weeks for ALL! The pro drivers of the ORCRC and WARCRC experienced the "chess game" first hand w/ alternate lines that consisted of 4 gates and all penalties being counted against you in those lines. They faced courses that expoited weaknesses in their crawlin' game. Some adapted quickly, while others fought the boogey man / course designer all day.

The top 5 drivers went to a shoot out course. They were:

1. TANIS.................-85
2. DRIVNME............-72
3. SUPERDAVE........-71
4. BENDER.............-70
5. GROVER............ -52

The shootout course was course 4 ran backwards. Grover manhandled the alt. line and sent the message, "BRING IT!". Bender (my vote for the first driver into the rc crawler hall of fame), responded to Grovers war cry up until gate 6, when a broken cvd slowed him down. Watching Bender drive the next section of course w/ 3 wheel drive is why this driver will be a hall of famer. UN-FING-BELEIVEABLE. Superdave was up next. Being one point behind 2nd, he set out on course w/ fire in his eyes. Entering the first gate in the alt line, his confidence level was pinging of the limiter, then, uh-oh, trouble. The crack of Lucia was about to swallow his rig whole, when, with the passenger front and driver rear in the air, SuperDave recovered, and went on to finish the course to put pressure on 2nd place to do the same. Drivnmf had 2 points to play with. With SuperDave setting the pressure cooker on high, Drivnmf hit his boiling point at gate 8. Tanis lined up, knowing all he had to do was finish, but with how good of a score? Tanis was the only driver who cleaned the finish line gate, this display of crawlin' talent netted him the win and the BPRCA paid invite to the '09 AXIAL WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Action was sureal. Location was epic. If you missed it; history will repeat its self, so be ready, the "boogey man" will be back.

Thank you ORCRC. Your club hospitality was great.
Thank you Judges. You were professional and it was great judging along side of you.
Thank you Axial. Your dedication to the r/c crawling community is un equaled.
Thank you CKRC. Your support of the BPRCA is priceless to me.
Thank you BPRCA Volunteers. Your hard work and ability to put up with my zaniness is amazing and the BPRCA would not be succesful without you.

The biggest THANKS of all, goes to the "DRIVERS" of the Pacific Northwest, ORCRC, and WARCRC. Your support and enthusiasm of rc crawling and its sponsors have made this event. I thank you, my sponsors, AXIALRACING.COM and CKRCCRAWLERS.COM, thank you, and the BPRCA thanks you.

Wow, what a weekend!!

It was awesome to finally make it up to the great NW and crawl. Everyone was very friendly, and a blast to compete with. I didn't hear a single complaint from anyone there. The courses Parker laid out were incredible, with a perfect mix of steep obstacles, drops, off camber sections, water hazards, etc. I would definitely come back again. The Lucia Falls location is probably in my top 5 for best places to crawl/compete. Congrats, and thanks, to all the drivers that showed up, all the sponsors for their dedication to R/C rock crawling, all the volunteers that helped judge, set-up courses and organize the event.

I'd like to thank my sponsors Axial, MaxAmps.com and Montana Scale Designs. I wouldn't have placed top 5 without your help.

I've got a ton of great pics from the event. I will get them posted in a gallery on Axial's blog ASAP, and link it here when I'm done.

Congrats to fellow Axial Team Driver Nathan Eells (aka Tanis) for his victory. He was a man on a mission.

Bender - Nice work on the write up and pictures, and great driving up in the PNW. I wish I could have seen more of your driving, but what I saw on course #3 was impressive to say the least. It was the fastest and most well-executed run I saw on that course all day. And that was out of the 45 or so trucks I judged on that course. It was especially cool to see your run right after Tanis. His run was flawless as well, but just a little SCARY!! Hope to get the chance to see you again sometime.

Thanks davec. I had a blast crawling with you guys. And I agree that Nathan's run on 3 was awesome. Crawling on the very edge of a 30 foot drop straight down to the river with no chance of vehicle recovery will make anyone pucker up a little.

Yes, even after the 4 hour drive home, it still felt funny when I sat down

What a blast!!...having the opportunity to comp with a bunch of top level drivers showing off their skills on course, it's easy to learn new things on a day like that
I want to give a shout out to my sponsors that made it possible to have a rig capable of hanging with the best. TCS, Axial, VP, Holmes....always a great combination of parts and support to get it done.
