Default Scaler GTG/Comp Co-hosted by NBRCC & JPH

Rubicon "Under the 101"

Scaler-con? Rubi-101-con? Whatever you want to call it, it's happening on November 29th, 2009! It will be a long run comp / GTG, meaning expect a few hundred feet of course and over 20 gates!

The location is "Under the 101" in Santa Rosa, CA. The event is Co-hosted by the NBRCC club and Jake's Performance Hobbies.

The idea is a scale Rubicon style run. Each driver will start and proceed a long distance to "Base Camp", this will be course #1. At Base Camp, the scale judging will take place (all accessories must be carried on the vehicle the whole way!). Then, each driver will head back down to the start area, this will be course #2. Final scores will be figured from scores from each of the two courses and the scale points. Time bonuses may be applied as well.

There will be multiple drivers on course at the same time (Possibly even heading in both directions!) just like on the Rubicon. Drivers are welcome to start and then wait for a friend, tackling the course together. Or, run it solo. Drivers will get negative points for assisting other rigs along the way.

The idea came from the combined brains of Charlie and Jake (yes, it takes two of them to form one whole brain!). The idea is to try something totally new to keep our scaler guys enthused and excited! If it sounds like fun and something you would like to try, please post up your info!

1.9 and 2.2 classes will be combined during this event. One rig per driver please.

Just about everyone will get a chance to judge. Because there will be many drivers on course at one time, we will be needing extra help with the judging. Keep in mind it's low stress and all about the fun for everyone!

We're still figuring out some of the rules and particular needs of this event, we just wanted the info posted so everyone can plan for this GTG/Comp. We'll have more info coming soon!

Please post up questions and get yourself added to the driver's list.

ANY Touch will result in a penalty, a big one too.

Jake and I have discussed our ideas on rules and basic guidelines and will have all of that posted in the coming days. We just want to go over it with a few guys and make sure everyone digs the ideas we have. SO, that is an OPEN INVITE to anyone that wants to discuss this to COME ON DOWN and hang out for a bit and chat with me or Jake about what we all think.

There will only be one class, and one truck allowed. We're thinking that mixing the two tire sizes won't be an issue at all.

Should be a lot of fun!

Ok, we've been getting all the loose ends tied up and here's some more info! I'm sure there will be more to cover, so please post questions and help us catch the open ends!

NBRCC / Jake's Performance Hobbies Scale 101icon trail run comp.

Scale Points
Hard Body -5
Metal Bumpers -6 (-3Front/-3Rear)
Additional Metal ___________ -3 max
Plastic Bumpers -4 (-2Front/-2Rear)
Leaf Springs -6 (-3Front/-3Rear)
Rescue Gear -5 max
Camping Gear -5 max
Working Winch -4
Lights -2
10 or more lights -3
Interior Must have Seat, Steering wheel and dashboard -5
Driver -2
Frame Mounted Steering -3
Functional Spare Tire -2

-55 Maximum Scale Points. To be scored at the completion of the course. All items must be on/attached to the truck through the entire course and when the vehicle enters scale scoring. All rescue items must be carried on the vehicle when not in use.

15 – 25 gates.

Possible points awarded from Fast to Slow time.

Vehicles will leave at 3-4 minute intervals running between gates in an open course format. There will be no guidelines between gates other then out of bounds.

Course Scoring
Out Of Bounds +20 Vehicle is moved to Previous Gate
Touch +15
Gate +10
Self Rescue +2
Assisted Rescue +5 Rescuer -3
Push Over +2 Rescuer -1
Reverse +1
Rock Stack +2
Progress -2

Point Out +60 (max points per course)

Touch/gate- Any part of the driver/spotter/gate touches the vehicle/accessories for any reason.

Self Rescue- If the vehicle gets stuck on it's side, or upside down, the driver can touch the vehicle to use the winch Hook, but must not move the truck. Only the equipment on/attached to the truck may be used.

Rock Stacking- Rock stacking will be permitted (just like full scale). Terrain can only be moved from a 2 foot circle around the gates. Anything used (wood, rocks, etc ...) can be moved away from the obstacle once the vehicle has progressed past, but can not be moved outside the 2 foot circle.

Assisted Rescue- Same basic guidelines as Self Rescue but the driver can attach his vehicle to another vehicle. This includes being winched, or towed. The Assisting Vehicle's reverses will not be counted after “rescue” has been called by the assisting driver.

Push Over- Stranded vehicle can be pushed over by an assisting vehicle.

Reverse- Any intentional movement (or rollbacks) of the vehicle backwards.

Progress- The entire vehicle and all 4 wheels must clear the gate plane. This includes the finish gate.
