Default KY people are in the new RC Driver mag!

Finally a really decent crawling event captured in a mag. The crawling event looked like alot of fun. I may have to take a trip to green river in the spring.

thats good to hear, but I only saw where they had a story on Clods and had a couple pics and mentioned RC Wizard(Boyer)

*edit* posted too late must have missed it or was thinking of RC car action?? - One small "rock" for crawlers, one giant "ledge" for the crawling kind...

Sweet! That's my red TXT-1 Cruiser..... boy, it's changed a lot since then

BTW, there's another comp at Green River this weekend. I hope I can make it if I don't have to work. I'd like to try the same areas now that I have tuned my truck and added 4WS

I told Greg I wanted to start getting some exposure for crawling in the mag, so maybe the Gecko article that ran a couple of months back and this Green River article will help.

There's more crawling stuff on the way for RC Driver.

That's really cool, I might have to sign up for that MAG as well.

Jason,
What we really need is to get a write up on a hardcore rock crawling only event.... with really extreme stuff and pictures. I keep seeing small blurbs on crawling, overshadowed by something else. And the pictures that show up in magazines of crawlers are lame show trucks and poorly built rigs. I would like to see pictures of crawlers scaling vertical rock walls with their beat up lexan bodies and killer engineering hanging out the sides!!! This is what will grab the reader's attention.....not a clod jumping over a pile of old lexan bodies! That went out in the 80's!!! People want to see extreme photos and read about carnage. I would think that the big magazines would send an editor to somewhere like Utah to do a spot on crawling, especially if 20 or 25 rigs showed up for a well organized event, with prizes for the winners, etc. Let me know if I can help out in pushing for this. I'll even host the event!!

An "Ice-Breaker" competition In the early spring in Moab would be cool to cover for a magazine. We found and excellent spot to hold our next comp in Moab right next to Tater Salad Hill.

Awesome!! Congrats to you guys that got yer rigs pictured, and I say a big thanks goes to Jason for getting some more exposure to the sport.

I agree that Jason should come out to Colorado/Utah, not to take away anything from the guys at the Green River crawl. You guys got some sweet rigs......but because I am so jealous.

The Tater Salad Hill area had some insane stuff that will really test the rigs.

I'm down for a Spring crawl.

Dirk...the Green River article was crawling only. As for hardcore...well, I think Erick's Overkill buggy is as hardcore as anything I've seen. The terrain at Green River was challenging enough that nobody made a clean pass but it was still fun...and that's what it's all about.

Did you see the article or the picture posted above? It's all crawlers.

Those of us that were at Green River aren't lucky enough to have people that are into crawling in our local areas. Green River was a shakedown run for everyone there. CSR even commented in this thread about how his truck has changed. I know Erick has worked on his, and Highmark has built a whole new truck. It was a good shakedown/evaluation for everyone.

So, lemme throw down the Gauntlet.

Someone (Pinchflat, Dirk, Grizz, anyone, Bueller, Bueller...) start planning a location and date. If we're going to do it, we need someone out west (local to the area) to organize/run the event.

What's the chances of having an event in conjunction with a 1:1 event? That's what I would like to do. Maybe Jason (Hensel) can use his connections to work something out. I think that would make for a better experience and give the crawling aspect of the hobby more exposure.

Let's get a date and location set so people can sign up.

If Fish is throwing down the FF miles, I'll take him up on it.

We'll head out and show'm how the West was won.

Seriously...let's do it.

I'll get with Greg to see what the chances are of promoting it (before hand) in the mag.

I think you're talking about the November issue, where David covered Monster Jam. John had some tubers with him at Monster Jam, but the majority of that article was about racing.

Oh.. I see, everyone always wants to have the Utah-Colorado guys do the big events... sure, I see. Never mind us here in Oregon it's not like we've been doing it longer Or have more advanced rigs

Yes. Let's figure out a date, many months in advance, and a few of us Oregon guys will do our best to show up and kick some azz.

I couldn't view the picture until now. having problems with my new computer. Sorry.
Yes....that is more like it!!! I knew you'd come through! I sent you an email regarding this and I like your idea about having a comp in conjunction with a 1:1 comp.
I liked the coverage you guys did at the NASCAR track and letting the pro drivers drive the TC3's was a great idea. We should do something similar with the crawling. Keep up the great work!

Green River is in the December issue of RC Driver.

The issue prior had David's coverage of Monster Jam starting on page 98.

Granted, Monster Jam is more of a racing event than crawling, but they did set up a trails course this year. Racing or not, any solid-axle coverage is good. Beats the heck out of the same nitro monster articles we've all grown accustomed to over the past 4 years.

The October issue has the Gecko's Product Spotlight on page 116.

There's plenty more in store.
