Default 2011 scale nats rules?

Will next years rules be the same as the 2010 rules? I am in the middle of building a truck right now, and I want to built it to fit the rules so I can run it if I am able to make the comp. Also, is there a date set yet? Thanks,

-Matt

I am pretty sure there will be some changes to the rules. The Scale Rules committy is still fighting over the new national rules and since Unimoger and Slobin are both on it, I am pretty sure they will use the new rules.

I would love to attend this. In the essance of scale my scaler will have a gas(nitro) motor. And i want to make sure it can compete. I cant see why not but it never hurts to ask.

Electric is so much easier to drive. But when there is a will there is a way.

Its getting used to the manual clutch that is going to be tough.

While I'm sure you're joking (I hope!) and technically it may not be against the scale rules, I seriously doubt the landowner will let you run a gas powered rig on his property. That is, if you even made it in past tech-in

What, are you walking there?

I thought this was a scale event? I thought scale built rigs were appreciated?

I dont want to get off on the wrong foot here. Yes i build scale trucks. This is the reason i would be willing to travel half way across the US to go to a scale event. I was hoping to get some encouraging feed back from people who appreciate scale built trucks. If this is purly an axial off the shelf event, then i understand, and i wont make the trip. Although i am using axial axles.

Sounds like a question for the rules committy. I had a guy mention that he was going to run a nitro in a crawler and that he had a clutch that would work, etc. etc. etc. If you have a build thread, it would be nice to see what you have. A video too.

I appreciate scale trucks, and a nitro would be cool as long as you're not douching down the course with oil.

Appreciate the reply.

I love building scale trucks. I have built lexan, leafs, front motor rigs, i make my own chassis out of steel etc.... Gas powered is almost non existant because they are si hard to drive slow. Its so much easier to just bolt a electric motor to a tranny and add a speedo. But true scale building is not easy, and it is not always the best performing. However its the love and joy of the builder to create a scale vehical.

This is what i hoped the scale nationals were about.

Go for it and have a good time doing it. The only issue that may arise and its not from a rule set stand point is LOCATION. Some parks and public lands do not allow combustion engines, including but not limited to private property.

If it meet all the scale rules then Its fine by me, I'll have to bring it up with the land owner though, we will be on his property while his lumber mill is in operation, since its not the holiday weekend they will still be open for business while were there. If he's OK with it then by all means bring it. Be aware we are right at 5k ft elevation and tuning isn't the same as some lower elevations, and it was still rather cold last year.

Thanks for the encouragement guys.

It will be surprisingly quiet, unlike most nitros.

My largest hurtle will be the trip out there. But its something I have been wanting to do.

Sound cool if it performs well. But then there is the montana law of fire. These wooded high elevation area's catch fire quite often. I work in surveying and sometimes we are not allowed 4x4's on lands due to high fire area's. I've seen fires break out in the rain somhow.

Its not going to preform as well as electric. But the driving expierence is awesome!

As far as fire goes, i have never seen a nitro catch fire like a smoked esc or a lipo!

LOL

We have had three tekins catch on fire at my rock crawling facility.
