Exclamation * Official 2011 Top Truck Challenge Entry Thread *

This IS the thread to post up detailed pics of YOUR entry. You must be entered in one of the other three classes in order to be considered for the TTC, but your rig does not have to be in those classes, it can be a separate build. Please only enter if you are TRULY serious about competing in this event. This is a VOTE IN only event, so we do not want a bunch of trucks in here that are just posting to have their pics up. Only 10 vehicles will be allowed to compete in the TTC, and will be voted in by the members of RCCRAWLER , the deadline for entries is May 1st 2011 at 12 noon. The voting will start on May 2nd at 8am and close at 5pm on May 9th, the top 10 rigs with the most votes go to the event to compete. We will have 2 alternates as well incase of a difficulty for a competitor to attend. Once the votes have been tallied, we will post up the TOP 10 trucks and those people will receive a paypal invoice from us for the entry fee for the TTC. Please READ all of the rules and make sure YOUR entry is legal. Rules for POSTING YOUR RIG. You must have a side view, front view, rear view and belly view of your truck. You should list all specs that will gain you votes to get in. Remember, you want to have the most votes at the end of this!

Let's see all of those awesome TTC builds, let's get fired up for this EPIC EVENT!

Edit: added back in from originally post as per request from Ben.
-
As a ADDED bonus this year, the top 10 trucks from last year will receive extra votes based on their placement from last year on top of the votes they get this year.

Also, Just Zach was the TTC winner last year and has a automatic invite for this year.

Default The First of the Little Guys

Well since I've got an in no matter what I figured I'd get this rolling. I know there's all these big, bad, monsters out there that are planning on just rolling over everything but I'm not afraid. I'm out to prove that bigger isn't always better This rig has been tried and tested and won the last 2 UTRCRC Modified events against some big 2.2 rigs and some great drivers.

Onto the specs

Axial SCX-10 Based, truggied rear, lowered skid, all tube work done by me, 12.5" WB
Axial Axles, upgrades all around
Axial Tranny, All Metal Gears, I'll probably throw in a VP Dig too
Metal Drive Shafts
Spektrum 6030 Servo
Hitec 5955 converted servo winch, plenty of winching power
Holmes ESC
Controlled with a Futaba 4PK
Working with JRH for the perfect motor
Mayhem 1.9 Beadlocks
Axial Rip Saw tires reduced to 1.9, 4.8" tall (I can fit bigger if really needed)

Fast forward to Sunday late afternoon, Clancy Montana, the last rig in the last event at the 2011 MSD Scale Nationals has just finished. As the dust clears on the 2nd Annual MSD Scale Nats TTC event, giant sized TTC rigs are found broken; snapped axles, bent links, stripped lockers, leaking shock oil, smelling of burning electronics, and the ground stained with the tears the drivers who thought bigger was better... They were mistaken... All the top spots have gone to the Small rigs… The Little Giant Killers.

Big, heavy & clumsy TTC rigs be afraid… Be VERY afraid. The Little Ones WILL DOMINATE!

Now for the entry of the next of the Little Giant Killers

The UTARD – PinchFlat Edition
Build Goal: Light, nimble, wicked fast, super stable with incredible side-hilling, comfortable in the air, small 12" wheelbase, ugly as sin, high scale points (shooting for 45+), 1.9/4.8" or tires, a blast to drive and look at & show off my sponsors products.

Specs:
  • Axial SCX-10 chassis with Custom Reign Labs Full Sumo Cage
  • 12" WB
  • Hand Bros Front Steering Kit & Rear 3-link kits and on-chassis steering
  • Axial Trany with RR solid locker
    Axial Shocks
    Traxxas Drive Lines
  • Axial Aluminum C-Carriers and Steering Knuckles
  • Over driven front Axial axle with some other tasty Axial upgrades
  • Hitec 5995 Steering Servo
  • Hitec 645 servo winch
  • Tekin FXr
  • Tekin 35t handwound (Specially tweaked)
  • 3c 50c Hyperion lipos
  • Spectrum DX3r
  • Pro-Line Titus 1.9 Beadlocks
  • Axial Rip Saw tires reduced to 1.9, 4.8" tall

PinchFlat’s MSD Scale Nats TTC Entry - Sami Buggy

I will continue to update the pics and spec as this build progresses. It is only going to get better at this point guys.

Pinchflat pretty much summed up the total destruction that these smaller rigs are going to lay down in the TTC event, so I won't go on and on with how much more nimble, light, faster and more stable these rigs will be To be honest, I really think that there going to shock the crap out of those that go up against them. TTC is all about who brings in the best score in the greatest amount of events, and most of these larger 2.2 rigs are a one trick pony and will do well at 1 or 2 events at best The Utards on the other hand are built to perform amazing on all the events with the exception of sled pull

Okay, so enough trash talk

These rigs are purpose built and having a TTC event under our belts, we now have a greater understanding of what's required to do well, and these rigs are the result of what we have learned from last year.

The UTARD - Kaetwo (K2) Edition
Build Goals - Light, strong, nimble, wicked fast, have incredible side hilling capabilities, able to jump with stability, run 1.9 tires/rims, 12" max wheelbase, ugly as sin, a riot to drive and best of all enjoyable to look at.

Specs:

• Custom Reign Labs Sumo Cage
• Axial Chassis
• Axial Axles
• Axial Tranny
• Axial Aluminum C-Carriers and Steering Knuckles
• Axial Shocks
• Traxxas Drive Lines
• Hand Brothers Steering Kit
• Hand Brothers 3-Link Rear Kit
• Tekin FX-R or RS Pro
• Custom Tekin Motor
• Hitec Servo and Winch
• Spektrum DX3-r Radio
• 3C 50C Custom Hyperion Lipos
• Pro-Line Titus 1.9 Beadlocks
• RC4WD Baja 1.9 Tires

More details will be available soon!!!!

Build Thread - Kaetwo's Montana TTC Entry - The Sami

She’s still a build in progress, so stay tuned for more updates.

Silly little Utah trucks........TTC is for the big guns!
After finishing the 2010 MSD TTC in 2nd place, I decided to retire the EB and build something a little more extreme and performance oriented for the 2011 season. This rig is built for speed and abuse with an 8th scale brushless on 6s. I would love to get your vote so I can put the hurt on the "little guys" this year. Thanks, Tim.

'50's Willy's pickup.
Custom hand made body from 26 gauge stainless steel.
Thin wall 304 stainless full tube chassis.
Built aluminum Axial axles with hardened r&p gears, Super 300's f&r.

Default Chino's FJ45 TTC

Here we are again! Still under consreuction but I figured I'd get pics up before I forget.

My entry will be basically the same truck as last year but with a few improvements. Over the last year, I've been beating on it and getting a better feel for how it handles. For last years TTC I ran the RC4WD Spooky Crawlers which worked well but could not compete with the Rok Lox. They really hurt me during the truck pull and the hill climb. This year I will be running the Proline TSL SX's so traction won't be an issue.

One of the most notable changes is the front axle. I have adapted XR-10 C's, knuckles and axleshafts to it for increased steering and handling. The other is a fresh new body and bed. Staying true to the classic lines of the original FJ45, I decided to keep it basically the same as last years but with a new cut Tamiya FJ40 body for the cab. I have spent the last year tuning the suspension as well as removing weight so it should be much myre capable this year.

Build thread: Chino's TTC FJ45 Build

Specs:
13.75" WB
Bruiser chassis
Tamiya FJ40 body with flipped, shortened and narrowed Tamiya unimog bed
Integral boatside/sliders
3racing Aluminum axles, rear underdriven, front stock ratio
XR10 C's, knuckles and shafts
Mamba Max Pro ESC,Novak 18.5 brushless and 4s power
7950 steering servo
MIP driveshafts
Front winch- MSD Quicksand on 4s with 250# winch line
Rear winch 3racing on 4s with 80# winch line
Custom Chino LED light bar as well as custom Chino LED rock lights
Leds for head/tail lights
Modified RC4WD 110mm front shocks, Axial 90mm rears
Axial trans with 32p pinion and spur, full metal internal gears
Custom winch controller servo switch
Proline TSL tires, RC4WD beadlocks with 62pyro rings

Here's what it looked like last year.

2011 TTC makeover.
