Looks like I'm not going to sell the CJ8 body after all. Sorry. When I told my wife that I was thinking of getting rid of it, she said that that was the only one she liked. Is she taking interest in my "little hobby?" Maybe I'll build her a crawler too with that body and maybe she can enjoy it with me. (And maybe I won't have to hear her bitch and moan about how much money I spend on these things...lol)

The snow is insane, and still coming down. I feel horrible for my truck, it hasn't been in above freezing weather in a month :( Maybe the trip to PHX will do it good! (Sh!t, I can get all this ice off my axles!!!!)

If I could find my allen wrench for my pinion set screws, I'd be done.

You think I'm kidding

So who all is going. I have 99% of my stuff now. Started assembly at 6am this morning. Taking a break .... damn fingers hurt . Pics of "Project 1 Day" will be later this evening. I have lots of soldering to do now.

See Ya.

Anyone know the easiest way to get to the park? I will heading west on the 60 from mesa. I assume I take the 60 west to the west.... then?
you can go to different ways. go to baseline road and head west. when you get to 24th street go south (turn left) and go to the end, you will see the parking to the left.

or, when you get to 10, take it west. take it to the 24th street exit. take 24th street south to the end. hope you can finish your rig in time.

Thanks Kev. I'm starting to wonder if I should keep trying to fix my RC, get it running, then fix my Yota, then drive to PHX to have the comp AND fix the Runner :( I don't know if it will all work out. I might just have to fix the runner for Dana. Or maybe I should just tell her to take it to a shop to get a bandaid fix real quick

yeh, i have a selective memory like a goldfish. if it's not technical, a theory, or important, it gets dumped from memory.

follow 17 as it turns east near downtown. it will become 17 and 60. take this to the university drive/32nd street exit. at your first light, make a right on broadway. take broadway to 24th street and make a left (south). take it to the end.

I will dedicate all my time after the comp to help you fix the exhaust leak.

Awesome, with two of us working on it; it shouldn't take nearly as long (I've noticed with two people things go about 3 times as fast )

Guess I should go find that allen wrench!!

I just played in the snow with mine, too much fun!!!!

Getting stuck in 3' of snow really sucks when you have to walk in and get it though! My neighbor was laughing her ass off at me

Hard to miss the small parking lot at the base of the mountain.....hard left turn at the end of 24th St. and you'll see the lot just slightly to the west.

I'll be in a black Z71.

Well, since all of you local guys have posted in this thread, lets use it to determine the schedule for the next 6 months so that our comps/get togethers can be posted in the new rccrawler calender of events. Do you guys prefer Saturday or Sunday? I like sunday because it gives one full day to prepare. The dates will always be the first weekend of every month.

Sunday, February 6th, 2005
Sunday, March 6
Sunday, April 3
Sunday, May 8
Sunday, June 5, Summit Crawl, 3000ft. up @ top of south mountain
Sunday, July 3, possibly the summit again to try and beat the heat

Dave, roktoy and myself were talking after the last comp. we decided that sometimes it's more fun to just drive around for fun, or maybe do a follow the leader. so maybe we can set some of these dates as a get together with no comp or just a small/short comp. let me know what you guys think.

Sounds like a good sched. to me Kevin, and Sunday is fine as well. As soon as I get this project of mine finished and tested, I'll have to look around here for a good spot. Poor dave, @ least gas prices are going down a bit...

One of those dates above will definitely be a flagstaff event. Definitely during the summer season so we can beat the heat.

Rich, Papago park has some good areas to crawl around on and it's closer then south mountain. also, twin buttes cemetery at the intersection of 10 and broadway has some good areas.

I don't know about backpacking up with all my gear!!!! i have a hard enough time carrying all my stuff the 1/8 mile between the parking lot and the crawl spot at south mountain! hehe. But without my gear, thats a possibility.

also, i have 1 hour of UROC on tape. anyone want to get together and watch them?

I'd love to watch the tapes sometime.

As far as the backpacking is concerned, I'll even let you borrow my ALICE pack from my USMC days, it should hold all your gear comfortably...

I will have to climb it someday though, just maybe not that day.
