2012 UTRCRC Utah Scale Championships!!!!

It's Time For The
2012 UTRCRC Utah Scale Championships!!!!

http://utrcrc.freeforums.org/download/file.php?id=3020

This is one of the biggest scale events in Utah and always turns out to be a wicked good time. This year the event will be held in St. George at Area 51. For those of you who have never been to Area 51, it is in my opinion, the NUMBER ONE spot for RC scale driving. You've got dirt, climbs, wicked off-camber stuff, drop-offs, tons of rock and best of all your close to the city.

We will be running all three scale classes; Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3.

Due to a limited amount of time and resources, we are only allowing 20 competitors + Judges in each class.
Please go to the UTRCRC Forum to reserve a spot on the following linked thread so that we can keep a running tally of drivers attending.

It's within 10-15 minutes from there and in my opinion even better.

If you guys want to put your driving and rigs to the test this will be the place to do it. Area 51 is incredible I think it's better then Moab for RC. Plus the event is free.
Saint George is a great place, the weather is always usually pretty good. There are plenty of hotels but they do book quick.

Have you checked to see if a flight into St George is available? Might save you some $$$?

Re: 2012 UTRCRC Utah Scale Championships!!!!

The basic goal was to make all three classes different by not only the type of rigs allowed, but how the courses are scored and ran. Here goes;

Class 1
There will be 2 courses total. Each course will have 2-5 territories that have to be navigated. Each territory will have a starting and an end gate, and how the drivers navigate the space in-between is up to him/her. This combination of a starting and finishing gates is what constitutes a territory. The standard SORCCA rules for scoring apply.

The courses will challenge not only the rigs, but more specifically the driver. They will be tight, technical courses with lots of boundaries and to spec narrow gates. Drivers will be required to choose their lines carefully as the courses will cause drivers that don't pay attention to rack up points in a hurry. Territories will consist of hill climbs, descents, rock gardens, sand, off-camber challenges and much much more.

CC-01's and Leaf Sprung rigs will be right at home on these courses as these are the perfect examples of a Class 1 rig.

There will be no finals course.

Class 2
There will be 4 courses. Each course will be timed only and will have a maximum of 10 gates per course. Roll Over’s, Touches, Gates, etc...will add 2 min. to your time. Repairs are allowed on-course only, time continues to run and you get a 2 min. penalty. Reverses do not count and winching is free as time will continue to run. If a driver times out or DNF's he/she will get a 30min time penelty + there total time and time penelties up to that point. The end of one course will be the beginning of the next course until you reach the 4th and final course. The courses will be separated by a good distance and will require that a driver hammer down and navigate a high speed sprint to the next course. For example;

Driver starts course 1 and finishes. Course 2 will start at the end of course 1 and require him/her to sprint to course 2. Once he/she finishes course 2, courses 3 will begin and so forth.

Courses for Class 2 will be extremely challenging. There will be holes, jumps, descents, incredible climbs, rock gardens, bridges, boundaries, tight gates, and anything else we can throw at them.

There will be no finals course.

Class 3
There will be 3 courses with 10 gates each. Standard SORCCA rules apply for scoring. These courses will be slap your mamma hard, and when we thing there hard enough, we'll make them even more difficult. I want drivers crying in the fetal position by the time there done with all three courses. Driver are encouraged to have Dig or 4-Wheel steering and winching will be highly recommended. These will be the type of courses that when a driver takes a first glace at, says to himself, "that's impossible".

There will be no finals course.

Things to note for all classes;
- Winching is allowed in any class, however you MUST winch from a natural obstacle.
- Judges are NOT allowed to guide or help a driver through a course. Drivers may help other drivers
- No driving of any kind near the courses
- Kaetwo and Pinchflat will pre-run every course with the appropriate class rigs.
- Make sure you have a good solid rig. Speed is a great thing to have, and a winch is highly recommended. In short....Be Prepared!!!!
