SCRCC 2012 Series Comp #6

Number of courses will depend on layout, but we will run at least 3 courses and a finals. We may run 10 gates instead of 7 too.

Course building starts around 8:00am
Driver's meeting WILL be at 9:00am

If you do not post here to sign up for the comp your scores will not be counted...there's o reason you can't post here...I will only print enough score sheets to cover those that sign up...simple enough

Just to throw this out there...PLEASE plan for this comp to use up the ENTIRE DAY (9am-5pm). It's not fair to some drivers to rush through parts of the comp in order to appease a few drivers that are in a rush for whatever reason. This is why we post up and try to accomodate as many SCRCC members and other drivers as possible in advance. I've had quite a few requests to make some changes to how the comp is ran in order to speed things up. If you were around when we ran the groups and used random orders within the groups you will recall that we typically finished up the comp...including finals...by 2- 2:30pm with a group of around 20 drivers.

The past few comps we have been using free crawl for several reasons. The largest of which was to accomodate additional classes that we hadn't ran before. Aside from that quite a few members wanted to go back to free crawl in order to be able to spend time walking around socializing and watching other drivers throughout the day. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback from the free crawl format, but I'm starting to hear a lot of "we need to speed up the comp" type comments.

If you will look back you will realize that even with around 20 2.2 drivers and a hand full of 1.9 drivers that we have been wrapping up the 2.2 finals around 3pm. I'm pretty sure that if we went back to the groups or some other method that we wouldn't finish up any sooner.

Okay...with all of this said...the ONLY way to help speed things up and leave the format as is is for drivers to take the innitiative to run a course rather than waiting for 5-6 other drivers to run every course before they run. This is free crawl...it has it's benefits and it's disadvantages...but from my point of view and from the comments I've received this is what MOST people like about the free crawl format and don't want that to change.

Longer story a little shorter...if there's a course open without a driver on course or in line...RUN IT! Watching several drivers run a course helps up to a certain point and after that you will find that you will get caught up in trying to duplicate someone elses run instead of focusing on your own run.

Sorry for the rant but PLEASE plan to spend the entire day devoted to this comp and do what you can to help keep things running smoothly. Above all else...KEEP THINGS FUN!

I think we should draw straws to see who goes first.......some people like to offer advice to people just to see if lines are possible and waste there time instead of offering good advice to them to actually help them.....just feel this is unfair, sorry!
