PARC Phoenix Arizona Rock Crawlers

Boulder Battle #3
Remote Control Rock Crawling Competition
Sunday, February 6th, 2005
Phoenix, Arizona

I made additions to the rules to cover some situations that were not covered at the last comp. But for the most part, the rules with be the same. We will also try some new ideas to keep the action constant at this comp. I’m also open to any ideas you guys have to help improve the events, anything that would make it more fun, more exciting, etc. In addition, we will start crawling early at this comp so we can get some time in just bashing around. It should be fun. See you guys out there.

The competitions will be held where 24th street dead-ends at South Mountain Park, approximately 6 miles south of Sky Harbor Airport and Downtown Phoenix. Parking is available just west of the dead-end. A follow-the-leader/fun-crawl will start at 9:30am. The competition starts at 11am and will run until 1-2pm. After the competition we will continue to crawl for fun. A map of the location is provided below. If you show up and don’t see anyone around in the parking lot with crawlers, please walk up the trail or over the ridge. We’re never too far off.

Out of state competitors must register here if attending.

That would be nice if more showed up, lets hope so. I might throw together a usa-1 and just for fun see if I can break it on the rocks. Cant seem to sell it so I might as well do something with it. ha

Well, due to circumstances out of my control, my rig wont be finished in time. I will try to at least get it moving under its own power, that way I can at least drive it. The top of the chassis needs to be finished, along with a couple of small things, but I think it will be ok.

I just want to see the damn thing done, I'm tired of re-doing everything!... Now I know why I haven't seen any aluminum tubers with locked-out shafty axles...'cause it's a pain in the @$$!

Oh well, I'll be there regardless.

Later,
Rich

11:12PM...lots of smokes and dew later... ...it's assembled! (hope it works... ...I'm sort of afraid to turn it on.... ) The shock mounts are strictly temporary, the steering links will more than likely bend if not break completely because of the light material used (all I had was some 6-32 all-thread laying around). And the top of the chassis isn't on yet, so I hope that when I DO rollover... ...it doesn't break the 55T/GD600 off from the tranny! This thing looks awesome! I just hope it can hold up to a full day of crawling without breaking anything major.

See y'all there!

Rich

Lots of fun today guys. I think I have my power issue worked out with my gear reduction so now I need to work on my center clearance and my shock setup. You clod guys sure kicked my butt today with that course you setup. The easy thing to do would be to get rid of my txt and get a clod but Ill make this txt work for me. I guess I like to do stuff the hard way. Anyone get the name of the guy with the red maxx and kongs?? I hope he comes back out to the next comp. Id like to see what his truck can do.

Later guys
