We would like to thank everyone who helped make The 2nd Annual Team KNK Hardware Top Truck Challenge and Xtreme RC Off Road such a success. June 6th and 7th, 2015 will go down in history as one of the largest scale RC events ever, thanks to you. It was a full 2 days of Family, Fun, Competition with an astonishing 297 total entries! In the Top Truck Challenge there were 46 Class 1 trucks, 115 Class 2, 52 Class 3 and 25 Kids. 59 entries made up the heats for the first ever Xtreme RC Off Road Race.
Competitors started rolling in late Thursday night and continued until Saturday morning. Registration opened early on Saturday and went smoothly as people signed in. Drivers meeting began on time at 10am, following the playing of the national anthem and dedication of the flag. After a few questions the event got under way with Class 2 hitting the Axial Racing sponsored trail course. Shortly after, Class 1 and 3 got rolling on the CKRC sponsored Hill Climb and the GCM Racing sponsored Sled Pulls hosted by the Buckeye RC Pulling Track. As the sun got brighter so did the smiles! Xtreme RC Off Road, sponsored by Team Ottsix, started the first heat at 1pm with the Kids class. It was absolutely amazing seeing the support from the adults and the kids definitely kept the turn marshals hopping! As people began to get hungry they made their way over to Mountains BBQ to get their fill of some of the best pulled pork around. At 7pm, Class 2 guys were still running on the trail as the Xtreme RC Off Road awards were presented. The evening fell upon us as the last few trucks made their way to the finish line.
Competitors started rolling out of bed around 6am on Sunday. The first of the 46 Class 1 trucks hit the Trail Course at 9am with class 2 finishing up their Sled Pulls and Hill Climbs. As you walked around, again you could see how much FUN people were having, whether they were competing, socializing or shopping at one of the 8 vendors that were on site. The CowRC sponsored Mud Bog started at 11am with Class 2. 212 trucks attempted the pit with only 2 drivers making it all the way to the end! Class 3 trucks hit the trail course immediately following the Class 1 rigs. As the day began to wind down the awards ceremony started around 6pm. The Family Fun Competition slogan carried over into what was a very emotional awards presentation. It was truly amazing watching every child receive a trophy and the reactions from the competitors. Every registered driver received some type of door prize and the top 10 in the Top Truck Challenge all went home with very nice awards and prizes!
From the entire Team KNK Hardware family we would like to thank each and every one of you that helped make this event such a success. From the people working on the courses weeks ahead of time, the judges working all day in the hot sun, the wonderful sponsors who donated thousands of dollars of products, the vendors who set up at the event, the guys/gals who kept our bellies full, those who hid behind the cameras and most of all the competitors who came out to spend the weekend and have such a fantastic time!
