Baja Style Comp

At our local scale location the Barbarian Scaleplex in Lake City FL, we have ran a couple KOH/Rally style comps. We require scale vehicles with scale legal tires but no scale points. The gates are minimum of 15" wide, most are about 2ft and some are 4ft wide or more, the goal is to simply haul ass and have fun.

The course is set with rocks, dirt hills, step up jumps, step down drops, and jumps over things. The jumps are somewhat scale and don't usually put the vehicle more than a foot in the air.

The vehicles we like to see in this are wraith based and with faster setups but the scx axled vehicles are dominating so we will split it into 2 classes when we get enough people.

Since we are running behind our vehicles rally style but in scaler comp fashion, usually 150-200 gates, we will be calling our future events the Barbarian Baja.

The interesting part comes in penalties as there is still a trailboss with you, we run a 5/5/20 penalty system for this, so 5 for hit gates, 5 for rollovers or HOG's and 20 for missed or skipped gates, the 20pt penalty is that way because we want everyone to run all the gates no matter what.

So far we've had a lot of fun and in many ways it gives the guys with Wraiths, Bombers and other wide vehicles a place to run and be competitive, especially when we get the width split taken care of.

Any thoughts or ideas? We are always looking to find new ways to comp with these things.

I'm over in Crawfordville. My truck may not do all that great in that type of setting but I'm not opposed for trying.

Been wanting to get enough people together for a full blown bogg here in Florida. Open bogg, bounty hole and tug-of-war.

We don't make mud or water a priority, in fact we avoid it as much as possible as the issues it causes just aren't worth it. But with that said some just love it.

Indeed. Different strokes for different folks.
