| So when do we want to have a 'Foam Carving' party? We should probably form the foam before we get to Cambridge. |

thats what i was thinkin' as well , we probably shouldnt try to run the trucks on just the foam itself , more than likely it will all start to break up .... we should probably pick up a couple gallons of the Roll on bed liner from napa or somewhere like that , and a spray gun from Harbor , there is a harbor right down the road from chris , i can bring my compressor out to do that if needed i'm game for come'n over and hack'n away at some foam with a chainsaw/hack saw/knife/tortch , and many other impliments of destruction |

My brother and I made one this weekend. We bought 5 cans of that foam crack filler. Hey menards had a sale it was only $.49 a can. Then we bought 4 tubes of Brown Caulk. Found a piece of 1/4 3x3 plywood in the shop. Then we grabbed some fillers (Orange juice containers and stuff) from the garbage. We covered our garbage with the foam and brushed on some caulk with a old paint brush. Still have to test it looks kinda cool though. Color looks like dog poop. Think we will call it poop mountain. |

I spoke with Mike Fisk tonight. He would like us to do the Top Truck Challenge as well as the crawling. He would like to get a flyer from us to post with his. He would also like to see this a full fledged RC X-Games event. Entry fee for both crawling, and Top Truck will be the same as last yr, $10.00 Per class. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded for 1,2,3 place's. There is also a lot of nice door prizes that your entry qualifys you for. As well as comp points towards the MNRCRC Summer/Fall series. New this yr is a $5.00 gate fee. Wrist bands are good for both Sat & Sunday if you save them. This is a great event to promote our niche of the hobby, and our club to other R/C enthusiasts from all over, as well as national tv and magazine coverage. I hope as many MNRCRC members as possible can make this event. We're off to a good start this year, but we still have a lot of planning to do to make a kick@ss course for crawling, and the Top Truck stages. NOTE:This event is listed on our comp schedule as an official MNRCRC Summer/Fall series points comp. Last edited by freetimecrawler; 07-18-2007 at 09:09 PM. |

We need to get a set of rules for the top truck challange then. I would say for a start, 2.2 or 1.9 wheels, no taller then all T tires. Body must be a truck or SUV, no cars or buggys. Body must cover at least 1/2" of the tires width on either side. Can not trim the bottom of the doors off the body. Must have headlight and tail lights, stickers or functional lights. Tube frames must use the hood, grill, and side doors. Flat beds are allowed. I say no limit on WB and allow 4ws and dig. The trucks must apear scale though Maybe we should require either a tube frame witch extends over either axle, or a ladder frame that extends over either axle. And require at least 4 shocks in the suspension setup. I am just throwing ideas out there off the top of my head. I would like to see a class like this be scale, yet open for very capable rigs. |

Rig classification is pretty easy. Are we allowing winching? My 1.9's though very scale and capable would get lost in the mud as compared to mike's larger tired FJ. I think the course rules should be pretty true to the event. Make it exactly like the 1:1 event. |

| http://forums.fourwheeler.com/70/777...nge/index.html Sounds like they changed the top truck challange in 2004, and made it a stupid truck challange instead. So they had to create the real truck challange, to go back to what the top truck challange used to be..... I say we stick with the street legal requirements, meaning we do not allow 4ws, maybe no dig as well? |

I think winching/tow strap should be allowed, with a set penalty. | |

OK, stupid question time: what is a "top truck challenge"? Is it a timed course, some kind of race, some point based thing? I've heard the words mud, winches, challenges, etc. but still haven't figured out what it is.... Thanks, |

As cool as the top truck challenge event would be maybe we should relax the event a little make it more of a untimed trials competition not a race track. The real event is 90% full throttle 10% line choice. The real truck club competiton I went to last year put on by fourwheeler might be a little more up our alley as the rigs are not so over the top. Mud pit make it a timed event, after all mud is wide open throttle. Winching is fine, however it can only be used after the vehicle has gone as far as it can under it's own power. There was like a 5 point penalty for winching if I remember right. Here is a video http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...arch&plindex=0 Obstical course also timed. Could replicate it pretty good. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...arch&plindex=5 Rock crawl was very tough, winching was allowed at a penalty and there was a time limit The last event they had was a basic replica of the obstical course only much tougher and tighter. I have all my pics from the event uploaded here if you want course ideas. http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y72...ude/?start=320 Last edited by Mnster; 07-18-2007 at 10:44 PM. |

So originally I posted I am not interested. As I re-read this I am now understanding this is part of our next series and WILL count as points? I have to come then. I was thinking this was in addition to our normal comps in TF's. Ryan |

We will hold the comp on one of the two days, and the top truck deal will be the other day.
