Re: UTRCRC Rock Crawling and Hill Climb Competition 6/26 Here are the rules as of today: UTRCRC Rules for the Crawling Competition: (updated 6/23/2004) 1 penalty point for reverse. At anytime the vehicle moves in a reverse direction more than the vehicles wheelbase. 1 penalty point for rollover. A complete rollover requiring reposition. Reposition to be done where the truck lays within 1/2 your vehicles length when it comes to a full stop. 1 penalty point for reposition. At anytime you may choose to have your vehicle repositioned 1/2 of your vehicles length. By-pass gate penalty points will be given for a reposition through a gate. 1 penalty point for gate marker offense. A penalty will be assessed when gate marker is moved to where the marker comes in contact with, or is moved beyond the marker boundary line. Upon each occurrence, the competition will be stopped and the marker will be replaced. If the marker cannot be replaced due to the vehicle placement the vehicle will be repositioned enough to replace the gate marker at no penalty. 5 penalty points for gate by-pass. You may choose to by-pass any gate at any time during your run. However, you must attempt a gate and receive at least 1 penalty point before you choose this option. 2 gate by-pass penalties maximum per section. If after you have used two gate by-pass penalties and cannot or choose not to continue any further you must withdraw from the section and receive a DNF. 1 or more penalty points for time violation. 3 minute time limit for each gate. At 3 minutes you will be assessed 1 penalty point and you will receive 1 additional point for each minute beyond 3 minutes. -1 bonus point for clearing a gate. In order to receive this bonus you must have received at least 1 penalty point for the gate the bonus is awarded. You cannot use bonus point to subtract a point received on a previous or future gate. DNF (Did Not Finish). At anytime during a section you may elect to withdraw from that section. At that time you will receive a score equal to the highest individual score received by all the drivers on that section plus 1 additional penalty point. Vehicle Breakage. If your vehicle becomes damaged, tire bead failure, vehicle failure, etc. during your attempt. You have a one-minute time limit to repair any occurrence. This must take place where the vehicle lays. They have been working on the road up there and there may be a road closed sign, but the city told me just to drive around the sign and go up to the park, that it was ok. Call up if you need to I'll email you my Numbers also. |
Re: UTRCRC Rock Crawling and Hill Climb Competition 6/26 Well.... PinchFlat, myself and JtotheC have mapped out most of the course. It's going to be very challenging, testing your side hilling abilities, downhilling, off-camber and shooting. I think sticky heavily modified tires, longer wheelbases, very low CG style chassis will be the ticket. The scoring will be tighter than our last competition which should make for a close spread. (HEHE... I said spread) We will be running at least 6 courses, with a hill climb during the mid afternoon. When thats finished we can all hit lunch and shoot the crawling bull. For those of you coming from out of state don't worry, we will get back together for a little cross country crawling, so bring your hiking boots or somthing confortable to walk in. Anyway it should be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to meeting new crawlers and seeing familiar ones as well. I wonder if those wonder boy tinkerbell fairy flying fruit loops Cody, Brian, Steve and Aaron will show? From this day forward they shall be known as the FAIRY FOUR! :flipoff: |
Re: UTRCRC Rock Crawling and Hill Climb Competition 6/26 What no pics yet! so how was the event? |

Re: UTRCRC Rock Crawling and Hill Climb Competition 6/26 This was a great event! We had a great turnout for both crawlers and spectators. KeninfromlongIsland came out from Arizona and showed that he had the skills to keep up with the Utah chapter. Still no word from the Fairy 4. Bunch of panzy a$$ chicken s#%$ I think we should have another 4-5 crawlers out on the next event (tentatively on the 31st of July). The course ended up being pretty difficult with a lot of steep shoots and very technical off camber climbs and turns. Everyone brought out there new ideas and techniques (some good, some not) but all really great ideas. One of the newest features was from Martha Stewart. A foldable cutting board as a slide platform on the bottom the crawler. HEHEHEH it worked great though. :D You can see it on his rig in the photos listed in the above URL. We tried out a few new tire combos both on the clod and MAXX style rims. Just as soon as the website is up we will have some writeups on how they all performed. I really appreciate everyone comming out and participating. PinchFlats wife did a great job at keeping score and making sure the event went as smoothly as possible. (great burritos too) :) Later 8) |
Re: UTRCRC Rock Crawling and Hill Climb Competition 6/26 Man it looks like fun was had by all, sorry I missed it. Talked to Griz today and we're 99% sure we'll be there for the July 31st event. |
