| VRRC - Round 3 'THE ROCK' - Results & Pics
Well round three was one of the toughest comps we have had yet. Held in Beechworth,on a very sunny Saturday with yet another great bunch of guys. Heres a bit about the courses.. - Course one, This was just a little insane (as some of the blokes put it), set on the side of a near verticle wall. It had a crack to straddle to start with and then you basically went across the wall, up the wall and then straight back down it. It was so steep that catchers were required at the bottom of the ledge to catch stray trucks, some doing 4-5 rolls before being caught we even had a catcher for the driver incase they lost there footing. Spectators had a choice, stand at the top and look down or at the bottom looking up. - Course Two, This looked tame compared to the first, this idea was soon quashed after 3 trucks broke links at the bottom of a verticle 3 steep drop off to the finish line. It had some awsome verticle climbs and decents, if your truck wont crawl verticle don't bother coming to the nationals. There was also a serious off camber decent that saw alot of trucks roll, infact I think everyone got a boundry there. Lets not forget the bump dump, this looked easy (45-50 degree 3-4 foot slope) however the rock is polished smooth and traction was just totally evasive. - Course Three, This was a very long and fairly easy course, the start and finish being the highlights of this one. The first ledge was about 16" vertical climb that no one made with out a boundry point, the finish was up a 10 foot crack that gets steeper as you go, great fun. |
