I know we talked about this at the last comp we had. Anyone still interested in doing it? Here are some of the rules I have come up with. Vehicle Specs. -Must use a tamiya ta01 or ta02 truck, including pajeros.(S-10, F-150, Hummer, Japanese military) -Can only lock 1 axle, your choice front or rear. Other axle must remain free. -Must run stock wheels and tires, unmodified. -Must run stock chassis. -Wheelbase and width must remain stock. -Must use a regular 6 cell sub C battery pack. -Any motor can be used. -Any gearing can be used, including reduction units. -Can run any shocks, but must use the stock lower shock mounting point. -Must retain stock a-arms and suspension links. -Can run a winch, but it must be controlled by the same radio you use to drive the truck. -Must use 1 of the bodies originally intended for these rigs, body must remain in it's stock condition. (no trimming) I know the rules are strict, but this is supposed to be a spec class, and this keeps all the rigs very much the same. Running specs. -You can use ramps, but when not in use they must be mounted onto the truck at all times. Ramps cannot be any longer than the wheelbase of the vehicle. -You can use tow straps, but they can only be 2 foot long.(tow straps can only be used in the team competitions.) -You can use your winch however you want, at no penalty. Winch cable can be no longer than 5 feet measured from the front bumper of the vehicle. -Course will be set up with checkpoints, which will be cones. You must touch 1 tire to each of these checkpoints before proceding to the next checkpoint. -The entire event will only be based on time, no stops, no backs, no cones, fastest guy through wins. -Depending on the comp timelimits may be imposed. If we only get a couple of guys interested in this we'll run it as individuals, or if more are interested we can set it up as a team comp. and time does not stop until both rigs have finished. Who's in? I have my S-10 going, but still needs some work, and I have 2 other complete cars in route! Last edited by jason; 04-24-2005 at 05:37 PM. |

The CVD's I don't think will give a competitive advantage, ie you'll still be able to do everything without them as without them. They might just offer a little help when it comes to breakage. Got a link for them Bender? | |

I can't seem to find the actual set I bought. I bought them in town so I'll check with them, to see if they've been discontinued. I did find these for the TL-01. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXETM2&P=7 |

Those say they will work in ta01 cars, wonder if they'll work in the ta02's? So did you order your rig yet Bender? I may try to take mine up to flatirons, or the westin this week. |

sounds fun. i'll definately pick one up. i got a few questions though: can we run a locked rear diff and a LSD front? like fill it with silly putty or something? also we're only allowed to run the stock bodies, does that mean i can't run anything besides the Toaureg body on a Toaureg, or could i run another 1/10 body as long as it looked stock (thinking back to my Blazer body)? |

No LSD in the front, the rule says it must spin freely. My intention on the bodies was to run 1 of the bodies that were intended for these cars, just because you bought the toaureg doesn't mean you couldn't run the f-150 body though. I don't see a reason to not allow another type of FULL BODIED 1/10 body though. |

My Hummer already has a locked rear end, I'll need to put a winch on it though. Proline Ridez bodies look pretty good on the TA chassis. I have the Hummer on my 4Tec Crawler. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=++&search3=Go I like the rules Jason, sounds like alot of fun. If I have two of them can I be my own team? |

Hey Griz do you know which one fits better the 190mm or the 200mm body? I looked at those the other day and thought they may work. And yea you can be your own team, just remember you gotta get both truck through as quick as possible! Thanks for the comment about the rules, I didn't think anyone would like them because they are so restricting. The reason for that is to keep all the rigs somewhat alike, and make this a cheap easy way for people to get into our hobby. |

I like the rules, levels the playing field. It'll be mostly driving skill that comes into play.
