PARC - Phoenix Arizona Comp "The Peak" June 12th, 2005

"The Peak" at South Mountain Park

Competition starts at 9am, competitors must be there by 8:30am.

Take Central Avenue south into South Mountain. The road will veer right (West). Follow the road to the gate house. Continue straight, you will pass another gate house, continue straight and follow the signs for the summit. You will continue on level roads for a couple miles until you turn to head up to the summit. Continue up the side of the mountain. As you get to the top of the mountain, look for a sign at a fork in the road. You will follow the arrow to "Dobbins Lookout", which is a left at the fork. Follow this road to the end. The competition will take place around the old lookout structure. It takes approximately 15 minutes to get to the top once you have entered the park at the Central Avenue entrance.

I'll bring the Shade!!

I'll be there!! I'll bring the EZ-ups and a table/chairs. I'm trying to get my dad and one of my co-workers to come and drive one of my extra trucks, I know we all welcome new blood to the crawls.

I also have some clipboards and stopwatches too.

I updated the directions above. Went there today and it is an awesome spot. We should have some awesome stages and plenty of spectators.

I'll be there as well, I'll use the TXT to pull me up the mountain (now that there's a lathe motor in it for now)

Looks like I will have to miss this one. Recovery from my surgery friday is kicking my butt, and I just dont see my wife letting me out of bed let alone climbing the side of a mountain...take pics for the gimp please.

Don't worry man, I'm sure we'll get a few "busted and limping" shots that you can relate to... ...J/K

I shouldn't talk, the busted pics will probably be mine!

Congratulations to Mike for winning both classes and showing us all some great driving. I'm glad the park ranger changed his mind and let us stay. I'm also glad the swarm of 10,000 bees that darkened the morning sky didn't kill us! We all found out how fast we could really run!!!!!! Here are the totals:

Full size:
Mike/AZVader: .............26
Ron: ............................43
Jay/Roktoy: .................44
Chad/Grover: ...............57
Kevin/kevinlongisland: 59
Cody: ..........................62
Rich/WRMorrison: ........81

2.2:
Mike/AZVader: 48
Mitch: ..............70

Your typical "When do the pics come?" question and can we hear more on the Ranger story?

It was worth the pain just to see Mike school the second stage! Awsome driving Mike, and congrats on the win.

Pics from Dobbins Lookout

It was a tough today you could hear stuff snapping and smell stuff burning. We had tons of spectators and alot of FUN!!

There were some many people with cameras, I heard someone say " it looks like a swimsuit model shoot". I had a hard time choosing the best ones, I took about 40 pics.

Here's the BIG trucks!!!

Now for the 2.2s

I know we only had 2 people in the 2.2 class but running on the same course as the BIG trucks made it quit a challenge (and alot of FUN).

This is my favorite new crawler body.

Missed it by that much (say it in a Maxwell Smart voice)

There sure was a great view of the city (made better by some SWEET crawlers).

I had a blast as well. If it weren't for the bees, the rock rash I got by running from them like a little girl  , and my truck gremlins coming back to haunt me at the worst time, it would've been a perfect day!

I just can't figure out what's going on inside my truck. It's gotta be the SR, I don't know what else it could be  , oh well, guess I'll try a new one out when they get them back in stock at the LHS. Just once I'd like to blame my poor scores on myself instead of the truck! I was doing fairly well until the motor got smokin' hot and stalled constantly. Even the K-Rocks were doing really well. Oh well, enough of my rambling. Here's the pics!
