| C.I. 4340 steel; 5mm - Axial Transmission Outputs Crawler Innovations is proud to finally offer our 4340 steel extended front & standard length rear transmission outputs for Axial transmissions. This is a permanent fix to weak outputs. This new design incorporates the 5mm round with cross pin hole that all new Axial transmissions & axles now come with. These outputs work with any manufacturers drive shafts that are 5mm. These outputs are cut from 4340 "Chrome Moly" steel. The reason the front shaft is longer is to move the drive shaft away from the spur gear. This added clearance allows for the use of larger spur gears in order to gear lower for increased torque & smoother start up. For brushless motors it is critical to ensure a smooth start up with no cogging. They are sold in a set which is one long front and one short rear for $47.95 They can also be purchased individually. The can purchased here: C.I. 4340 steel; 5mm - Axial Trans Outputs Here is a set installed on my SCX-10 based 1.9 scale Toyota. I am using a 96 tooth spur gear and 15 tooth pinion on a Tekin 13.5 sensored brushless inrunner motor using a Mamba Max Pro on 4S. The truck is as smooth on start up as my brushed 2.2 comp trucks using Holmes Hobbies hand wound motors. Yes, it's a giant 96T spur gear but the smooth crawlability even with a brushless motor is amazing. Here you can see just how much clearance you have between the output shaft, spur gear and drive shaft yoke. You could actually go bigger if you can find a company that makes a bigger 48pitch spur gear. This pictures shows that the drive shafts clear all link mounting and links. Excellent and finally Was hoping for more of these in 5mm. Any idea the largest 32p spur that fits?

Rc10GT 60t fits as well. Its just a touch thinner. Eddie I just emailed you with a problem I ran into also. Last edited by Erin; 07-20-2012 at 09:39 PM. |

| Re: C.I. 4340 steel; 5mm - Axial Transmission Outputs I have been experimenting with several different 32P spur gears and pinions. Eddie are these only suited to the drive shafts shown or will others also fit. ie Junfac, MIP.

Ordered a set for the SCX10 today. I ordered two of the short outputs because I do not run smaller than the stock 87T spur so I don't need the extra clearance for larger spur. Eddie gave me a call and reminded me that only 1 of the outputs is threaded and you can't just use 2 shorts. Brain lapse on my part but, Awesome customer service! I appreciate the heads up from not having to order another part once I got it and realized I was air headed this morning. Really appreciate the service and the awesome product you guys make, Thanks! |

I have been noticing that in some of the AR60 sportsman builds, the guys are having to flip their rear axles to get rear driveshaft to lower link clearance. This longer "front" output could be put in the rear, couldn't it? I am thinking that this may lift the shaft just enough to clear and prevent interference. Pic is for reference. |

| And the design evolves again. Weight of original design: Weight of new design: CI team drivers will be testing a new 7075 aluminum version of this design. CI will also be offering front and rear long outputs in the new design. The finished machined dimension has been changed on all outputs. The new end measurement is 4.95mm, just a hair under 5mm. The reason for doing this is for metal drive shaft users. I received a number of emails and phone calls about the last production run of outputs. Those comments, concerns and ideas were applied to this run of outputs to improve the product design. The new design of outputs should be in the CI store sometime next week. . Awesome! Glad I hadn't ordered mine yet I'm assuming the price is going to change... If so what's the new price for them?

Is anyone from CI going to Axialfest? I think I want a standard length front output for my SCX-10.

What about those of us that already have a set. Any thought of offering a service to tune up the old version? |
