Default Twisteds Climber

here's some pics of my climber and some small things i have done to it.

1. orings in the outer cups
2. rear steer lock out
3.lowered the body
4.boat sided (im not sure that's whats its called, its not please tell me so i don't continue being an idiot)
4.shaved the leading and trailing edge of the front and rear axles so they are not square.

not much to show, i just took a dremel and shaved some material off so the edge wasn't so square . i made it more rounded so it would slide over the rocks easier.

Just got mine today, and so far its a fun truck. I added weight to the front tires and changed the connections to deans. I notices that the rear wheels do not stay locked all the time, is this the oring mod that you speak of???

Thanks

Andrew

If only one of the rear wheels spins (like with an open diff) then yes that is the o-ring mod we are talking about.

Is there pics of this mod or can you explain where the o rings go ? I am thinking the o ring goes between the bearing and dogbone?

Thanks

Andrew

take off the wheel, then remove the two screws at the end of the axle that hold the knuckle in place.one is on the top, other is on the bottom.remove the knuckle assembly alogn with the stub axle.place a small oring into the drive cup of the stub axle.this keeps the dog bone in place so it doesn't slip out of the drive cups inside.i used a shock oring.you just need to put 1 oring on the outer knuckles.

hope i helped and didnt confuse you.i tend to confuse myself sometimes.

Thanks Twisted 100% better. Was wondering how and where you installed your batteries? I was thinking a single 11.1 lipo on the front servo split up?
or should I use a 4 cell?

Thanks

Default Motor Pinion gear pitch?

Anyone know what pitch the gears are?

I want some Homles 454s, but that would need metal gears. Cannot do 39+39+9+9+9+9 right now.

I found some Heli pinions that are 8, 9, 10 pitch and fit 2.3mm shafts.
Thought I would start there for now.

Could try a 8 in the front and 9 in the back. (right, or other way to fix clod stall?).

Just didn't look hard enough. 48pitch in Holmes thread on his CC. WRONG!@!

0.6 Mod pitch What a pain to find!
Some heli's use, but most in smaller tooth count are 0.5mod. not 0.6. Holmes is having some made for 1/8" shaft, but prob not the stock 2.3mm.

I am currently running 12t in the front and 11t in the rear with the HH 454's. I am also running a 5 cell batt. This setup works very well.

Hey J, with that setup, when you hook the front tires up and over on a rock with the backs trying to climb, to you end up with a lot of free current (amps) flowing to the front causing even more wheel speed up there, and lower current flowing to the rear?
Does the front fish around spinning a lot?

Sorry, not used to clods, I've only had shafty's.

You went 5cell to reduce crazy wheel speed from the 454's?
Holmes is working on 8/9/10 pinions due anyday I think.

I tried running my stock axles (chassis is far from stock, non existent). My 2.2 died after an hour run, so I tried to keep up with all the other 2.2's running, but could not go the same lines. Clod stall happened every steep ledge climb.
Stock motors are guuuutttttlessss with 11t pinions.
Got front and rear dig working for less then $20.
Time for some power though.

thx
