So these motors seam to be pretty good? Do you think metal gears would hold up ?

| I'm gonna find out, probably this weekend. I just got the motors in for my kids' CC's, so I will start testing lower voltage to see if performance is still good. I had a calc II test tonight, so I haven't been putting much effort into anything else lately.

| BaneBot 390s
Well, I was complaining about $8+ in shipping from Banebots, but I ordered late Tues, and they came in Fri. So worth the speed. These are by far the best I have tried Probably 30-40% more torque then my Promax 3745 neodyms (370's) that I rewound to 140turns. Speed is little wicked on 12v. But I do not think I would do less V, but wait for the 9-10T pinions to come in. I still have some clod stall. It is all new to me as I usually run shafty's, so I could not say how bad it is, but you do see it. Might be the Rat-Shack DIG switches I have. I rewired them with better joints, but wonder if I loose some current through them so it intensifies the stall(??). I was sour on this CC, but getting happier |

Where would I look to find 9t pinions I think thats all these need to be perfect for what I want my cc to do. I put this thing through a few packs yesterday(14.4v) and the gears held up fine. I have all metal with cvds in the front and only a metal idler gear in the rear. I figured I will replace them with the metal upgrades I have as needed to see if the plastic and dogbones will hold. Plus I like breaking parts and seeing the carnage. The plastic idler I broke was missing almost 50% of the teeth on the small gear. Wonder what will be next. This thing held up to pure abuse yesterday and the only issue was a pin coming loose on a front cvd....tighten a set screw and all was fixed. I'm talking full throttle assaults on climbs bouncing trying to break it. The course(pics in my build thread) we built broke something in the transmission of my axial scale truck, destroyed the front ring and pinion on a wheely king, water logged an mrc, and the duratrax just has a few more scratches. Did I mention one of those guys picked up a cc after seeing mine |

Pinion talk is the other post on here. A LHS in Jersey is getting them for us from his contact in Korea. 9T with 2mm bore (easy to bore out). 10T with 2.3mm bore. Only draw back is they are both BRASS Not sure how they will hold up. Meant for Heli's. | |

You could run the Holmes cobalts on 7.2v on one ESC. ESC would need to be decent one, not stock. http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=17&page=1 You will need to relocate your lower links/mounts to use them. |

| Kyosho Motor
Found these 380's on Kyosho's site, but cannot find the specs. Pan down to the AF39 32T motor. http://www.kyosho.com/eng/products/r...acce_type_id=4 Must be for a drifter, so wonder what the KV is. |

Has anybody tried the 380 motors from Tamiya? They had some decent kick in the Grasshopper years ago, might work OK here 6-8 cells. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGN27&P=7 |

I think you would have to play with the timing on the Tamiya motors. They have crimped endbell mounts and come advanced around 21deg(?).

According to Tower's Tech Notes, they have 0 degrees timing.

My bad, I did not look at the link, but thought it might be one of the black Tamiya Sport Tuned motors being referred to.

| No, these are the standard 380 motors from the old Grasshopper kits, and probably a bunch of other cars. It has a 32 pitch gear pressed onto the shaft already but that should pull off.

well there has not been any action on this thread in a while and i was just wondering if anyone has been doing more testing. I got the banebots motors but i am running just 8.4v and they still stall. I am still searching for a 7.2-8.4v solution

Wow, this rig is a money pit. Trialing motors, looking for pinions, ESCs, wheels and tires. Mostly because of trial and error. I'm running the Banebots off a Sidewinder Micro right now, so I reduced it to 8cells. Could run 9cells, but 8 fit on the chassis better. The banebots are still fast, but not enough torque with 12t front and 11t rear pinions trying to turn 2.2 Panthers. Keep waiting for the #$!%!$#!#%^ BP Hobbies to respond to having 8T and 9T pinions I asked them to order. Came across these: http://www.hobbypartz.com/alpha-400-...ess-motor.html 740kv (Banebot 390 are 1015kv) 28mm dia (Banebot 27.5mm) 6-10 cells Being an outrunner, prob has more torque then the Banebot Brushed. It will take to ESCs to run, but I happen to have a second Sidewinder Micro that Castle just sent me as a replacement for my Mamba25. Run the second ESC on Ch3 on my Futaba 3PM, and mix ch1 and 3 together. Pull my micro dig switch out and use the Tx mixing. Anyones thought on motors like these? Could go nuts and ditch the Nimhs and go with something like dual 1100mah 3S lipos. Bet that would eliminate clod stall! OK, so maybe I made this thing into the money pit |

The Banebots 390 most are running. $3.50 ea. Needs 9.6v+ to get torque, but is med-fast at that voltage with 11t pinions. http://banebots.com/pc/MOTOR-BRUSH/M5-RS390-12 |

would the combination of going from 5000 kv stockers to 1000kv banebots, PLUS going from 11Ts to 9Ts be too slow? (on the stock 14.4v system)
