Default Long can 400s for CC?

I jumped on the bandwagon and ordered an RTR CC from Tower. Couldn't pass one up at that price. I keep hearing that the stock motors are a bit weak and don't have enough low-end power. I have a couple of long can 400s laying around from some airplane projects, and was wondering if they would work better. From what I recall, they have a lower kv than the standard 400s and have a higher current rating. I would typically run them on 3s lipos with no issues. Anyone tried running them on the CC?

The one and only issue I can see you running into is link clearance. You might have to change the link setups to clear the larger motor.

Try the 400S and report back to let us know.
Stangkilla, didn't you try 400T motors? I think I saw someone report back they were even too fast, so 400s might be faster yet.
Try running them on 5-6 cells and see.

From Towers site:
T-400 is 27.55mm dia x 43.18mm L
Duratrax 5000 is 27.5mm dia x 38mm L

The stock links can be curved near the knuckles by using a heat gun (go slow so you do not deform them to badly).
I did this on my rockbuggy I'm bulding with these axles now. Links are cloooose to the motor, so I curved them about 1/2" back from the joint.

no not yet, but the 400T is on my list to try, yeah i think the T has a better chance than the S. allittle slower/more torque. agreed 5-6 cells, more voltage helps startup smoothness and tq, but makes too much WS, and snaps parts.
