Idea for axles, hubs, wheels

I haven't done too much fiddling since all my Tamiya stuff is boxed away right now while I do some reorganization and de-cluttering, but I have an idea to let us run lots of other wheel types and even narrow the track width.

- Cut off the 'lip' on the ends of the stock hub, which will let any 12mm hex wheel fit. I'm sure a bunch of you guys have done this already.

- Swap out the stock axle and hub for units from a Tamiya car. I have several I plan to try (TL01, TLT, High Lift) but I'm sure an axle and hub can be made to fit the stock hub carriers. Worst case Tamiya hub carriers could be added as well. This would reduce the wheel track by about 1/2" on each side and not have that huge length of axle sticking out.

This should be good for some 'bench racing' on the next rainy day, or when I need a break from the CC LOL

I read that AX10 outer axles will fit right on. Havent tried it yet though, so I cant concur.

The CC uses a 'big & little' bearing setup, 5x11 on the outside and 10x15 on the inside of the axle. A few Tamiya and HPI cars use this design. I tried an axle from my RS4 Sport/Rally and it fit the hub carrier perfectly, but the recession for the dogbones is just a bit too shallow for the stock dogbones. Some grinding will be necessary to make that fit, but any standard 12mm hex wheel will bolt up now.
