| Panther Cougar tires hitting upper front links
I noticed when I make a turn the front tires make contacts on the upper links, its pretty bad that it literally stops the truck. I put the upper links outside to accomodate the banebots motors. I also clocked the axel. Im just wondering how to fix it? I dont want to unclock the axel back, maybe theres another way to fix it. Pls help! Check the link thats my tires. http://www3.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/w...I=PAHC2015&P=7 |

Try a different wheels that has a zero offset so the wheel and tire are pushed out away from the chassis. If you are looking for some nice, strong beadlocks wheels, check out Mayhem Eng wheels in the Vendor section. They have a wide selection.

You could always make some type of mount above the servo and bring the uppers closer together at the axle. It would be a better geometry too, CC has an odd suspension geometry stock.

Post a few pics of your front links and mounts. Photobucket is free. I think we need to move your lower links out of the way. Alternative is to narrow the inbound side of wheels. Get a cutoff wheel. Chuck it in a drill. Clamp the drill in a Workmate or along the side of your bench. Cut the inside bead off your Eight Shooters, then cut another 1/4 - 3/8" of rim away. Would essentially move the tire outwards. |

I realize I have a different chassis, but I retained the stock links. Pic shows smaller 370 motors, but I have Banebot motors in there now and the links still clear them. I am currently running stock TLT wheel hexes that are about 3/8" thick, the stock tires, trimmed treads with no foams. Links bend inward towards the front end mounts (left side of pic), and mount about 1/2" inward of stock mounts to delrin risers I fabbed. Could you bend your links like this, around the motor and striaght to the stock mount, but with a larger spacer and longer screw, moving them inward? Cougars may be too big for a stock CC chassis. I am actually considering some 1.9s but on my 2.2 Axial beadlocks. Something around 4" is what this likes. I run 5.8" Rock-Claws on my 2.2 BMV. I just cannot imagine anything close to that on this thing. Do you think cutting the Cougars down to 4 - 4.5" OD would stop the rub? Last edited by sweli; 05-12-2009 at 07:59 PM. |

Just wondering if I bend the upper links sideways to give the tires a little clearance? Do you think it will mess up the stability of the truck? or I will try other tires, maybe thats the easiest way to do it. Dont get me wrong the Panther tires is so amazing! really sticky when it comes to climbing but I guess its just to big for these rig. If I got time I will try your sugestions. Thanks for all your help!
