Default New to cc

Ok guys. I just picked up my 5yr old son a cc as his first crawer. I got it without tires and body. I'm going to run a rockstar body on it. I'm looking for a smaller tire than 2.2 but not the stockers. I looked at the losi mini combo today but they just look too small. Then I thought 1.9's and flatirons for added heighth. I really don't plan to extend the chassis because ....
1. He's 5
2. I could put 2.2's on but shred gears I don't want to replace for a 5yr old lol
3. I don't have much time with getting my 2.2 and my super ready for comp season.
4 He's 5 lol

So my q is this, Does anybody run 1.9's that has a pic to compare the 2.2's with and is there a smaller 2.2 crawler worth thats about 4.5" tall?

Thanks Guys I appreciate all the help on this site.

The stock CC tires aren't all that bad, but I plan to run some 1.9 flat irons on my rig too, so if you get some mounted up on yours I'd love to see some pics.

the gears will be suspect. Bought 3 cliff climbers and busted 3 of 6 gearsets within the first 5 runs. Granted my rig is much heavier than stock, but they are brittle gears. I am afraid of buying full metal gears, outputs, swingshafts because some members have broken the metal gears. I am in a holding pattern on buying the metal gears and cv's.

The stock wheels are about 2.1 but the tires are shorter than most 2.2 tires.

Cool man thanks. I won't be there this weekend. I gotta work

The stock tires measure about 4.25 inches. Most 2.2 tires are 5+. I think the 1.9's will be too small. the stock wheels are 2.2 from what I've read. I guess I'll have to fork out a ton on stock tires and wheels lol. I hate buying stock tires lol.

I see some come up on ebay every now and then for around $20 for all 4 wheels and tires. Not sure if there are any on there now, but worth a shot.

I just picked up a set of stock axial beadlocks and lizard tires for mine off ebay for $30 shipped. Not bad for a brand new set if you ask me.

So you can get a taller tire on the stock wheels right?

I heard that 2.2 tires are too tight on the CC wheels But i am not sure if that is correct.

I won through an auction, I might have just gotten lucky but there was only one bid until 5 minutes left. I think there was a lightly used set in the for sale section on here for $30 shipped. I'll see if I can find it.

The 1/10th of an inch difference will not cause any problems mounting 2.2 tires on stock 2.3 rims. I mounted the stock tires on 2.2 rims and although they were a little loose, with proper glue&true, they work just fine. I mounted 2.2's on traxxas 2.8's that was a stretch and was very hard to do, but was possible with good results. You should be fine.

My bad, I knew that something was a little different, thought it was 2.2's being loose on the rim.
