Default any lipo users on here?

Just want to know what packs you are using on your c.c. with both stock motors and the few who are running the cobalts? what config 2s or 3s? what have you done to fit said lipo packs? also any links for packs that will fit and are over 1300mah.

Well, you aren't alone, i want to run 3s on mine since 7.2 volts just isn't getting it done. Problem is I keep buying other things with my lipos charger money, haha.

Jamus, you got me wrong, i already did the 3s thing with the 454 motors from jrh, the metal gears didn't hold up, so now i am looking for a small 2s pack with at least 1800 mah and 25c rating that will fit on my c.c.

Stock motors and esc: Most often I run one of my T-Rex packs (3S, 2200mah), velcro'ed to the top of the front servo. So not sure what you mean about fitting, since that's a huge pack. Bit of overkill, but w/o lipo cutoff, I can run it for half hour w/o worrying about killing it. I ran as small as 800mah. I ran pair of 2S 800's from TrueRC, for 4S (each connected to one of the two stock connectors, rather then shorting one of them for 3s), but i ended up puffing one of them. Could have been due to bushing problem (overloaded motor).

for 2x2s setup, i had either both side by side on front servo, or one on servo, and one in battery "tray", before i moved the esc and RX down into it. If i were to do 2x2s again, i would put one on each axel.... If you're running 2s, you could do two smaller packs in parallel if you're having problem fitting a bigger pack?

CKRC 1500 20C packs look like they would fit into the battery compartment w/o problem.

Default 2c lipo with cc

I'm running 2C, 1700mah, 20c rating lipo with my cc with Banbots wired parallel and losi mini crawler esc. Works great.

What's the rating on that lipo? i am using two 454's from JRH, so my amp draw is a little higher than stock.

Edit: Never mind i found the specs, i wonder if that 20c rating would hold against the two 454's...

Capacity(mAh) 1750
Config(s) 2
Discharge(c) 20
Weight(g) 110
Max Charge Rate (C) 2

I asked a similar question to JRH. He recommended at least a 40a lipo

Thanks, although i am unclear, 40 a with a 3s right? couldn't the c rating be lower for a 2s pack, i can't picture how huge a 40a rating would have to be

Per JRH, using two of his 454s and a FXR, he had recommended a 40amps continuous battery. For example, a 2200mah 2S lipo rated at 30C would put out 66amps continuous (2.2 * 30 = 66amps) The amp rating is calculated the same way for 2S 3S 4S, etc...

You wont be able to use the really tiny lipo packs but certainly no need for the big boys. You'll be able to find 40amp lipos that are smaller than the standard 7.2volt nimh stick pack

The standard 7.2 volt stick pack is around 86mm x 33mm x 16mm

2S @ 60 amps 69mm X 45mm X 18mm
3S @ 60 amps 69mm X 45mm X 26mm
http://www.maxamps.com/Lipo-2000-74-Pack.htm

2S @ 55 amps 110mm x 34mm x 19mm
3S @ 55 amps 110mm x 35mm x 30mm
http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=10&page=1

The heat that JRH was talking about...he said that it would be fine with the 2S (7.2V) but he had never tried it with a 3S (11.1V). Since the 3S is a higher volt, there most likely be some heat issues.

Of course, you could go for lower amp ratings (ie lower C ratings) but the battery would work harder and be easier to overheat, thus shorter battery life.

I hope this helps. Happy crawling.

Default lithium ion cells

I run these style lithium ion cells. i run them is a 3s configuration for my banebot motors and their size allows me to put the pack in the original battery compartment. although, i will admit, that is not the ideal weight distribution. here is what they look like:

http://upload.ecvv.com/upload/Product/200810/China_Li_ion_18650_2200_mAh_3_7V_SANYO_Battery_Cel l20081062055351.JPG

i believe they are rated somewhere around 2000 Mah. they give an excellent runtime, and are very sturdy compared to soft pack li-pos. you can solder them up like NiMhs

Hey guys new to this site and the crawling scene ... I've been into r/c boats and cars for a long time now just not the crawlers.. I am enjoying it though. I have a cc and what I did is just like on the evx esc , I jumped one side of the esc and am running a 11.1 volt 4000 mah lipo in mine with no problems at all , loads of run time . I also installed a lipo saver inline as to not let the volts drop to far to ruin the battery . But let me tell you I have yet to have even come close to getting that low on volts as I get tired of standing and walking before its goes dead .
