Thanks for the props on the idea! Very nice "how to" post. Good pictures, simple instructions, and the every important if you screw up it ain't my fault disclaimer. I have been running my CC with links like this for a month or so. It has taken some pretty nasty tumbles but the links hold strong. The tubing probably actually makes them stronger. |

Haha, cool idea, I'm gonna have to try that now. How do you bend aluminum tubing?

Need/want to bend it for bent lower links. I heard somebody say you have to put the aluminum in the freezer for an hour or so. Does that work to make it bend easier?

Thats a great idea. I bought some short rod ends the traxxas trx1942. It comes with 16 short rod ends and two longer ones. I bought them on ebay for about 4 bucks plus 2 for shipping. Then i went to lowes and bought a 3 foot stick of 6/32 all thread for 2.50. And three one foot sticks of 3/16 x 0.035 wall aluminum tube at 1.50 each for a total of 4.50. All of the part for new super nice links $13.00, I will post picks as soon as i finish them. The traxxas rod ends can pivot much more than the stock links. And you dont have to use the dumb plastic spacers that if you over tighten become junk.

I just got some 8-32 all thread from Lowes yesterday to build links for my VMG project that I'm gathering parts for. It's killing me having to wait on stuff. lol I can't wait to get started building it.
