Default I've had this truck for two weeks now, and I'mprobably hooked for life...

Hey guys whats up? I'm new to this whole crawling thing so I figured I'd get some input on my build. Obviously it's a cliff climber, or I'd be posting elsewhere. For starters I have 115 mm traxxas turnbuckles for the upper controls and revo turnbuckles down low with a bend in them. They measure 120mm. This gave the truck a 11 15/16" wheelbase. second I locked out the rear using traxxas turnbuckles. Then when I reassembled the chassis, I left out the battery and electronics tray using 4 of the removed bumber braces trimed to 34 mm to brace the top of the chassis and mount the upper shocks. I then got some losi rock carvers mounted on proline 8 shooters 2.2 and replaced the shocks with 90mm traxxas shocks pulled of an old stampede. The wheels are giving me some trouble now because it doesn't quite have the torque I want. Has anybody here found a smaller pinion than the 11T that came with the truck? All in all though, I think I have about 80 degrees of articulation right now with out bump stops. My next step is to dable with a droop setup, but I have no idea where to start. As I mentioned earlier the shocks are 90mm long but the inside of the shocks are just over 10mm diameter. Does anybody out there make a kit specificaly for a droop setup of do I just have to play with all various springs till I find what works? I imagine there has to be some kind of good starting point. If you read this long post this far you are truly a trooper and I commend you for your dedication by closing with one last question. What is the best grease for protecting the drivetrain from dirt? these axles aren't sealed and I've already had to tear them down a couple times to chisle out little rocks and debris.

I cant answer your grease question cause I dont know, but, The Crawler Store makes an internal shock spring kit for doing a droop set up. So basically you take the springs off your shock and put a heavier weight oil in them....then you want to run a internal spring for some kind of recoil. I have seen some guys run no springs at all and a very high weight oil in the shocks. I think the internal springs are really soft so it gives some bounce back but at the same time they compress really easily. Hope this helps....post some pics of the rig! Have fun.
