Default Battery options?

Ok so ive had my cc for a few months now and its set up for comp as far as suspension and links and what not. I have been running crappy Tyco 6 cells since I got it since I didnt know any better. What are my battery options? I see lipo and all these other batteries. Would the DTX mini batteries that they recommend for the cc be ok or are they not strong enough? I dont want to break the bank for batteries either. Also, is there a strong enough battery to run if I rewire it to a single battery?

I've ran 2/3A packs with good runtime and low weight. NascarKieth runs sub-c packs which are heavier but gets a ton of runtime. You would probably be happy with the 20-30 minutes you would get from the 2/3A, like the DTX packs. But if you want really long runtimes then go with the sub-c. I'd stay clear of lipo, depending on your ESC, and if you have a lipo charger.

Yeah no lipo here, I have the same packs like nascarkeith is using with the stock esc...so ill look into the DTX packs. I also found a site that makes batteries for small scale 16 and 18th scale traxxas and duratrax vehicles including the cc. The packs are right at 1500mah and he sells them for 2 packs for 25. He has some vids of the packs in action too and they seem pretty nice. Diy Mini Tuners is the brand. Anyone use them?

Just for knocking around, check your local Radioshack. They are selling out their Pro-Pulse(RC18 knockoff) batteries for around $5 and they are either 1200mah or 1400mah. They're in a funky 4-shotgun and 2-sidexside design to make then a saddle pack type. I use them in my minis and the CC. Not as good as my 1500 Elite packs but not bad either.

What kind of run time do you get out of the shack batteries?

Can't remember ever timing it, 20-30 minutes I think.

Thanks for the info Jamus...went to the shack today. My set up before were 2 tyco batts and one was a standard 6 cell and the other was a 9.6 8 cell. They worked great but they were old so they lost juice realy fast. I picked up one of those small saddle type packs and a new 8 cell 1600MAH pack. We will see how they do when they are charged up. Thanks!
